You're kidding right? Too much for 100 8x DVD's? Where have you seen it for $35-$40??

Maybe 4x that will burn at 8x, but 8x? OK

Seriously. Even though you can get quality 4x@8x media for less, there are those of us whose burners won't let us burn @ 8x on 4x media. The cheapest I've found is ~1/disc for Ritek R03s from Newegg.

Well from the media id, it suggests that the discs are made by taiyo yuden. Unless they are fake.

I wondered about that when I saw this:

"Media code/Manufacturer ID TYG02"

If they're real, how bad could they be? Thought once I bought some "Sony" DVD's from PC club that turned out to be absolute junk.

They're fake for sure. Several manufacturers are known to have started production of 8x DVD-R media using Taiyo Yuden's disc id as they don't get any 8x support for their (usually crap) discs by some drive manufacturers. The market will soon be flooded with cheap fake 8x "OEM Taiyo Yuden" DVD-Rs...

Are you able to back up that statement. I'm sure TY would be all over any manufacture who put their name on a product without their prior approval.
Seems to me that TY would also know about something like that before the general public, also seems to me that TY would contact the resellers and let them know they will not take kindly them selling a fraudulent product

I'm starting to suspect that shop4tech is seeding this forum with hot deal posts in order to sell more of their products.

You know, that thought crossed my mind. I bought some longten dvd media back in April after reading so much positive feedback on them. They turned out to be very bad. 4 out of 5 have read errors. They are pretty much useless. They burn ok, that doesn't mean anything. Luckily i didn't lose any important data to them. Also, Shoptech was supposed to credit $5 to my acct which they never did.

if this product is bad, check it out this link from what other said. And if there had problem from what we are buying from them, we could easly call to credit card company and request chargeback on the charge right! By the way, by using hacker firmware to burn 4x media as 8x could easily hurt your drive, and also create more chances on skipping and lost data on play back!

I've used the 4x Matrix -R's for burning data, mostly Xvid Tv episodes, I play them on a Philips 642 dvd player, and it never skips and always detects the disc. Never got any coasters from them either, except once while burning my computer just randomly restarted (love it when that happens), however, a friend of mine used it to burn digital video and said that it skips a lot on his dvd player, but never had a problem with data.
