Maybe I'm just more empathic than most; I cringe every time I see a Best Buy salesman selling someone a computer with a Celeron and telling them how many Ghz it has and how fast it will run games. It's complete BS and anyone in sales will admit to you that they tell white lies in order to keep food on their table.
As much as you hate celerons and I understand why, they are suitable for some people. I say that because I'm one of those sales drones who sell them.
I only ever sell celerons when all a customer wants to do is read email, open word docs and etc.. I tell them that if they ever want to do video editing (miniDV), play any games, do any multitasking, or do anything cpu intensive, they'd probably have to buy a new computer. And really, it's to my advantage if a customer buys the more high-end system, but the reality is that some people are on tight budgets (or just plain cheap).
p.s.: i work at a best buy subsidiary, and we're commissioned
p.p.s.: I'll be honest tho, and I admit that I've seen people being lied to a few times at work, and it's just sad
