yeah, I don't consider GnR a hair band, although they were part of the mid 80's L.A. scene, and several of the members looked the part in the early days. To me they had more substance than style, they projected a different attitude, and the guitar playing in particular was more creative and influential than the standard hair bands. They were surviving during the grunge era unlike the hair bands, and IMO would have survived well beyond it if Axl wasn't such a douche.

I don't think Kiss is a hair band. Van Halen doesn't fall in that category for me. Queensryche is metal. Accept is hardcore metal, and they didn't even have the hair.
The fact remains that they are classified as hair bands by the tards that coined the term.

Twisted Sister, The Crue, Poison, those are hair bands.
