Uh...Page didn't play Bass for the yardbirds long enough for me to ever consider him one of the best bassists in rock. He only played it until Chris Dreja became comfortable with it because he was originally a guitar player.
maybe for you, but read your rock history.. He was a hell of a bass player.
BTW, Keith Richards played bass behind Clapton's lead in John Lennon's band "Dirty Mac", but I don't consider Richards a Bass player.
