hm, never knew Otis Redding wrote the original. To be fair though, there are some relatively significant flavor and lyrical differences between the two. I'd say this shouldn't be considered for that reason.

My favorite cover is "Grapevine" . 3 distinctly different covers of the song. You got Marvin Gaye being all smooth and silky, then you get Gladys Knight and the funk version, followed by Creedence Clearwater Revival and their 11'minute jam session. Could listen to all of them all day.

used to be Satyricons cover of Orgasmatron or Graveworms cover of Fear of the Dark, but honestly, Barn's cover of Zombie Ritual is just so frickin good.

More recently, I like this, ragged, live cover version much more than the original (mainly because I like many Smiths songs but hate Morrissey with a white-hot passion) -

I find I agree with all three parts of this post...other than not knowing what that Smiths cover is because the video comes up as "not available" for me (but I agree with the general sentiment of hating Morrissey but liking many Smiths songs).

Oh, it's a necro! Oh well, still agree fully with that post. Though now I feel _even older_!
