Bought some decaffeinated green tea. People rave about this stuff, anyone else here drink it? What do you think? Also does anyone eat whats in the tea bag?

Lastly are multivitamins generally worth it? I know it will vary dependent on what you eat but is there anything here that's rare or wont appear in all but niche foods? Heres whats in them:

I eat carrot/peas/sweetcorn/oats/milk/peanut butter/apple/banana/grapefruit/orange/tuna/quorn/lean ham/cottage cheese/whey/bread

Dont often stray from that stuff tbh so I may be missing something that a multivitamin could cover.

Multivitamins are not beneficial:

http://www.npr.org/blogs/health/2013/12/17/251955878/the-case-against-multivitamins-grows-stronger
http://www.cnn.com/2013/12/16/health/multivitamins-studies/

There is no harm in enjoying green tea. Eating what is in the bag is odd.

The process of removing the caffeine however may remove the supposed health benefits:

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]The decaffeination process affects the amount of polyphenol substances in tea, including catechins. The two methods utilized for decaffeinating teas imported into the US are ethyl acetate and CO2. Ethyl acetate, the most commonly used method, is a chemical solvent that is applied to tea extracting the caffeine. The tea is then left with a residual of the solvent, which is deemed at levels safe for human consumption. Green tea decaffeinated using ethyl acetate retains minimal benefits, about 30% of EGCG and other catechins.

CO2 processing consists of carbon dioxide and water (effervescence) to remove caffeine. Teas decaffeinated with CO2, the only type we sell, keep more of the polyphenels and catechins intact, about 95%. Having said that it’s still uncertain whether CO2 processed decaffeinated green teas actually deliver the same health benefits as green tea in its natural state. Although the CO2 method preserves more polyphenels and catechins, tea composition is very complex. It is unclear whether or not additional compounds in green tea play a part in delivering its health benefit and if so how those additional compounds are effected by the decaffeination process.

Why would you want to take the caffeine out of tea? I take multi's once or twice a week because I don't really need them with my diet.

I am not into vitamin pills. I am not saying they are harmful, they are vitamins after all but they are unnatural.
Green Tea is great stuff, although I'm not drinking green tea a lot, nowadays. But I don't know the idea behind decaffeination. Caffeine is not evil. It boost your metabolism, burn fat, gets you going. Caffeine is what gives green tea, the fat burner reputation. There are lots of stuff online that tells you how caffeine help you work out harder.

Did you read any of those studies? One says that multivitamins didn't benefit Alzheimer's patients which should be obvious. The other was something along the lines of not reducing the risk of heart attacks in patients that have had a heart attack. Which again is absurd. There was another study that doctors self reported the way they felt while taking multivitamins which was basically taken on their honor with no way of knowing when they filled out the reports or when/if they were even taking anything.

Most people are vitamin deficient, taking something simple can help a lot. As with most of my advice, do some research and make sure you're getting good quality vitamins and you're getting vitamins you need. I prefer Orange Triad but it's not for everyone. I also add in extra vitamin D, PQQ and fish oil for various reasons. But like I said, do some research and read the studies, not articles written by idiots tying to sensationalize nothing and not just abstracts.

I drink green tea and water throughout the day. I don't notice any caffeine kick from it whatsoever so never thought about drinking a decaf version.

Perhaps starving children in Africa could benefit from a multi but you don't need a multi, just eat healthy as real food is the best source of nutrients to begin with. The only thing you may need to supplement is vit D, your annual blood test can tell you whether you are low or not.

Yes. It's good. No.

Don't drink the decaffeinated stuff unless you actually have a reaction to caffeine. Tea is pretty weak on the caffeine scale.

Unless you have a specific dietary requirement or deficiency they probably aren't that useful. Certain vitamins and minerals, such as Vitamin D, Selenium, Iodine, etc can be deficient depending on your demographic and where you live and what you eat, but it's arguable whether it's worth replacing them if you're only subclinically deficient.

I eat carrot/peas/sweetcorn/oats/milk/peanut butter/apple/banana/grapefruit/orange/tuna/quorn/lean ham/cottage cheese/whey/bread
You need to eat more stuff.

http://ajcn.nutrition.org/content/86/5/1420.abstract

I know it's a study on women, but vitamin D is also important for the DNA replication error correction mechanism and various mitochondrial functions as can be found http://www.ncl.ac.uk/press.office/p...-proven-to-boost-energy-from-within-the-cells From that article "It is thought around 60% of people in the UK are vitamin D deficient,"

Researchers suggest as much as 10,000 IU of vitamin D a day - most of which can be from sun exposure. 10,000 IU is about 30-60 min of exposure depending on how much skin is exposed obviously, which many people don't get.

If you want to take something that will actually help you should look into bear bile, sharkfin soup, or rhino horn powder. That will put some spring in your step. :whiste:

I've got plenty of spring, squat anywhere near 600lbs and get back to me.

Think what you want but consider your sources when attempting to spread shit and troll on..

I think that multivitamins (+ minerals in the same tablet) are worth it. I also think that the better quality make ones, are worth the extra money. The own shop brand ones (e.g. Tesco's, UK) don't seem to be as good as the much more expensive, quality branded ones.
I've refrained from mentioning makes here (except the picture, which is branded).
Strictly speaking, a good well balanced/healthy diet should provide everything that you need (nutritionally), but eating that well all the time, is not always practicable.
I have heard that the quality of vitamin tablets is not as good as real food sourced versions (because they are potentially artificially made), and being able to successfully eat them (so that they are properly absorbed), needs certain foods as well, which you may not be eating enough of, or at the right time, to go with the tablets.

Example:

Noted. Those I posted in the pic are Asdas own brand, it just caught my eye as I was staring at their overpriced whey, 75p for a bunch of multivitamins? Im in! Ill check the branded ones next time and see if theres much difference with the ingredients.

There usually is a lot of difference with the ingredients. Firstly they usually have 50% to 100% more items, i.e. vitamins and minerals, that you may not have heard of, but which the body (presumably) needs.
I've also heard/picked up that the cheaper ones, have inferior quality ingredients, to save money. The better quality ingredients, are more able to be usefully absorbed by the body.

Unfortunately they can get very pricey. But one way of looking at it is that, a one a day 60/90 tablet bottle, would last 2 or 3 months, per person. I would have thought that even the cheapest ones, are better than none at all.

You could always try them out, and see how you get on.

Any suggestions?
Mushrooms, celery, carrots, onions, turnips, aubergine, grapefruit, potato, tomato, cabbage, lettuce, chinese cabbage, bok choy, broccoli, cauliflower....

For all intents and purposes the list is endless. That was just what is in my fridge right now that you didn't list.

Hi Guys, I have a question. Have you heard about goji berries? These berries help to burn fat, is it true? Does somebody try it?
