Killing whales is one of the greatest evils of the modern era. With a nation as advanced as the 'Nese, you?d think they shouldn't want to kill intelligent, graceful mammals like whales.

Advanced, or backwards? History will record it.

When it come right down to it, they aren?t much different than they were 6o+ years ago.

yes, being one of the most industrious nations in the world, with an giant economy at a fraction of the size of most other major industrial nations, all the while maintaining their ancient dignity in most everyday life is certainly equal to raping and murdering several thousand people.

Wow Japanese fanboy to the rescue!

What ancient dignity? They're pretty much transplanted Chinese who hate the Chinese.

They've never fought a war with any honor either, first they were saved by hurricanes then they slaughtered millions in Asia and used kamikaze.

That's a less than intelligent remark. To call the Japanese dishonorable is a complete travesty. I suggest you research their history before making such comments.

Would that history include testing anthrax, dyphtheria, and other biological weapons on tens/hundreds of thousands of chinese in WWII? Or their human experiments around the same period?

None of the surviving civilizations can claim to be honorable... only less evil than others.

But they used swords, how can they not be honorable???

It's true, modern civilizations have generally forgetton about honor. When I said research their history I meant going back a little farther than 60 years. The country has been around since before 710ad, you can't use 60 years of history and "prove" they aren't/weren't an honorable people. That's only 5% of the country's total history you are looking at. I'm not going to be drawn into a who is better debate, but if there was an imaginary honor scale and you had to put the countries in order, starting with the most honorable first, I'd put Japan FAR ahead of the United States, Canada, etc.. Convo over...

Back on topic: I don't agree with whaling in any shape or form, but greenpeace is a bunch of crazy folk if you ask me. Regardless of the maritime law (which greenpeace knew ahead of time and clearly took the high ground on, I'd go as far to say they manipulated the situation so that after they ran into the whalers they COULD quote the rules to them), they should have gotten the hell out of the way.

My brother is a captain, so I asked him if he could explain the deal. He says that there is no way to tell from the videos who hit who, or who was trying to avoid being hit.

He also says that the rules quoted apply to constricted spaces, which this was not; and that if they felt that a collision would otherwise occur Greenpeace had a responsibility to avoid it if they could.

I usually like Greenpeace, but this sort of stunt hurts their credibility.
