I should of mentioned that the times I quoted were using the text(CLi) version of SETI & average Angle Range WU's,I bet your time was with the GUI version of SETI?

If you use SETIDriver to set it up it's nice &amp; easy .SETI CLi v3.03 for various versions of Windows.

You should find all the instructions you need to run it their ,if you have any problems though give us a shout ,me or someone will help

I'm pretty sure they won't join our team. The DPC have too much of an own identity I think. So let's hope that RC5 key doesn't get found soon...

if the RC5 key is found we still have to take the #1 position in OGR (about a month from now we will be there anyway I think), do some fighting over at UD, G@H, EECP (we are steaming in all those projects, either growing rapidly or allready one of the top players ) and various other projects . I think at least some members ar currently actively crunshing Seti, but real growth will start when RC5 is over. With all the anandtech members switching to Seti at that same occasion they won't know what hit them berkely

My T-bird 1.2Ghz (384MB SDRAM) has an average of 5.5 hours to crunch a WU with the client version.

And if they find the RC5 key, it would probably men that you guys will overtake us. That's too bad for us Dutchies, but that's only good for the seti project, let's keep that in mind guys

keep in mind that the chipset on those DDR boards matters a lot. right now its only AMD760 for the good stuff. the ALi is slower than the kt133a boards.
/me wonders how nForce will do at seti. then wonders how 760mp will do at seti. then wonders about dual nForce. 4.2GBps each way would be real nice.

1,5 years ago I bougth a PIII 500 and it was the fastest thing you could buy, whithout taking a second morgage on your house. Right now people aren't taking me seriously because that is what i have for computer....

I have my computer to go on the internet, to write the letters I have to and to crunch wu's. But if I have to choose between a vacation and the newest AMD of Intell CPU, the choice is rahter simple. My vacation is pretty much more important

It's just that it's funny to see that you can almost buy an upgrade every week (or at least every month) and in no time it is outdated. Seemes an awfull waste of money if you want to keep up with the technology.

OK, I updated our Teaminfo page and thanks to Cobra's megaflush today i'm afraid i have to report we crunched a bit more last week then AT did. Well, not a sh*tload more, but just enought to let us think we are retaliating you're incredible run of the last couple of weeks.

Greetings to all the S@N team! I just got back from a weekend vacation and checked the thread again. It's so cool to see all the people from each team posting back and forth. Competition is good but friendly competition is even better!

cobraICE: - Did you say 40,000 PC's? :Q :Q Forty thousand? :Q :Q You've gotta be kidding! That's a lot of Alien Hunting Power! If you don't mind my asking, what's the main Operating System (Linux, Win9x, WinNT, Win2K)? What method do you use to install the client? Do you use any sort of program to queue WU's (in the event of a SETI server outage)? What the speed of your internet connection?

BlackBiker: A P3-500 is plenty fine. If you want an upgrade just overclock it a litte bit!

Anyone else think it's going to be kinda funny to watch S@N blow by the HW France team?

Forgot to mention that my 2nd PC is a Celeron 366 @ 550 ,runs everything that's thrown at it fine ,btw I'm not one of those 'crazy' upgraders ,I don't even come close ,I bought my PIII 650(@820) back in December &amp; will most likely keep it for another 6 months ,more likely 12.

Well oke here is some information in bad englisch / american style

First we have down here a network but not just a network i can see all the 40000+ pc's
also pc's who are standing in scandinavia and europa etc...
My company uses NT 4.0 workstation and right now about 200 pc's are running the seti as a service
its a CMD client.
I have made a image sow about 1 / 2 weeks i have all the 650 pc's infected with seti
My boss like's seti to that means i dont have to be sneaky with this .
About the servers......:
down here we have about 50 origin server here is a link for more info:

but we have 1 specialy build server from origin.
This server have more then 200 alpha cpu's!!:Q
And it cost about 500.000 dollars.
This server can crunch a unit in 5 min but!! but seti delete's this unit because its to quickly done.

Sow i renice the specialy made program to use all the cpu's (done by a friend of my).
And with the renice it crunch it about 15 min.
And seti say's oke we like this unit

Well Ofcourse i have a buffer program this is cald setigate its a simply program
and i think it sucks big time But right now its verry useful.
Setigate doesnt like 8000 wu buffers its gonna be verry slow then.
Setigate is getting slower and slower (and if the log's are on its crashing all the time!)

Well my idea was to install seti on all the 40000+ pc's and my boss like's the idea
butt its gonna take some time i think

I'm a systemmanager my job is to give system enigineers and administrations a function for that day.
(like installing seti )
right now a friend is busy with a program like setigate (only quicker and better!).
If this program is done you can see me upload some 80000 wu's in a day 40000+ 10 hours X 2 = 80000+
only there is a big problem does seti have that much buffers? and what about the netload
and do they like this?
Stuff i already emailt to seti butt if i get a answer i'm aready 100 years old i think!.
Well we thought and think ....and the conclusion is f$ck them, and go on with this.

cobraICE: Thanks for the replies!!! Man, that's a ton of CPU power you've got at your disposal. Nice that your boss likes SETI. That's cool! If you get all of those boxes running the SETI client the S@N team will quickly move up the chart (and past HW France )! I have a feeling the Berkely crew wouldn't be able to handle that kind of daily production but I hope they can. You all seem like a great crew and it would be great to see that kind of output. We'll still battle ya though!
