i am assuming these are your friends. do you ever see them wearing cuff links or tie clips? my brother gave his groomsmen a pocket watch. i have no idea where mine is, because i don't wear pocket watches. my other brother gave his groomsmen nice leatherman multi-tools. i know exactly where that is because i use it all the time. i know the point is to commemorate the occasion, but it's also nice for the item to be useful so it doesn't end up in a box in storage somewhere.

That is what I was thinking. The tie clip is a possibility of something they would use.
The cufflinks. Probably never. I can see why a pocket watch would be in the same boat.
The money clip is looking increasingly interesting.

I gave out a tie to be worn at the wedding and a bottle of scotch to each of my groomsmen. Everyone had a different tie (same colors), as my wife thought that'd be cool (and it was). Then, everyone got a bottle of booze according to their tastes. The next of us to get married did the same, so it must have been a pretty good idea.

Other cool shit: engraved flasks (if you're not the first of your friends getting married, this has probably already been done), monogrammed whisky tumblers, beer steins. All cool, but since most of us were all in each others' weddings, no one repeated.

Being in a wedding is a long day. Giving your buddies something they can enjoy throughout the day is a nice idea, especially if it's a hot summer wedding.

I was thinking about liquors. Though there will be plenty at the wedding.

Sure, but there's probably not going to be something specific that each person likes. In the case of liquor, it's more for either before, or to take home. For instance, part of my shopping list for that day was Macallan 12, Laphroaig 10, Glenfiddich 15, and some others depending on what I knew my buddies liked.

It depends on the budget, obviously, but I thought spending $100 a head was a nice gesture when the night before and the day of tend to be very long. Don't get me wrong, I like being up there for my friends, but it's undeniably easier to attend a wedding as a regular guest

We are all big Scotch and Irish Whiskey people.
I was looking at 75 ish. Solely because that is what I can afford right now.

This. I got my groomsmen nice flasks with just their initials engraved. In the years since, I've seen them brought out when skiing, fishing, at cold sporting events, etc... I'm happy my gifts are actually used.

Don't do a tie clip or cufflinks. You're basically throwing your money away. Give them something they will use.

I was in a wedding in which the groom gave us all binoculars. At the time it seemed kind of strange, but those suckers proved useful for years afterward.

Got my groomsmen gifts from this site: http://www.mygroomsmengifts.com. They were slow but quality was good. Got duffel bags and cuff links (which I know they'll use).

Also got my 2 best men ticket to the Jets vs Eagles. Good times.

This. I'd graciously accept cufflinks but there's no way in fuck I'd use them or honestly want them.

Knives
Mini-leathermans
Money clip
etc
