Don't bite off more thread than you can true Mr Nuts. You tend to leave all your threads once people call you out on your ignorance.

I can't wait for the "There's a warrant out for my arrest because I didn't play $175 registration ticket" thread.

you violated the law and got a fine for it, nothing to complain about.
Sell the car and take the bus if you can't afford it.

You're calling it a "stupid hick town" but the only stupid I see is you, OP.

1. You exited the vehicle. That causes most officers to have an adrenaline dump, because people that exit tend to a) flee or b) pull a gun and start shooting. Stay in your vehicle, hands on steering wheel, don't make sudden movements, and follow officer's instructions.
2. You make excuses for breaking the law and make it seem like it's not your fault. Too bad. It is your responsibility and it's a STATE regulation, so has nothing to do with you being in a "hick town". You'll be pulled over anywhere for expired registration.
3. Your communication skills suck. There is no reason to be confrontational, especially not with an officer who is doing her duty.
4. You're prejudiced. Prejudiced against small town folk with no good reason "stupid hick town" and prejudiced against female officers who "look" a certain way. Go home and rethink your life.

or i could just drive because what is the fucking difference? its just registration renewal that is a scam in the first place and everyone knows it. these last few months i havent had it, i have been trailed by state and local police and none of them pulled me over. they hang on my bumper, run my plates, and then back off and leave me alone.

You elected the officials that hired the people that are "scamming you".

Be mad at yourself.

What kind of idiot thinks you get out of the vehicle when an officer pulls you over?

I see one other person mentioned it: is your vehicle insured?? (I would imagine that the officer would have checked though.)

This has to be a troll thread. Only a complete idiot would come here to make a thread about how much of an idiot they were, while seeking sympathy. Self-pwnage of the year nomination.

I cant believe I have been reading posts here for years that were conceivably written by an insane person. Then I go and read this thread...and the other one about the guy complaining about people with their elbows out the windows??? (I think its actually the poster above me, no hate Mixo but your elbow thing is pretty insane) These are ridiculous notions, both of them.

This is my go-to forum to speak with people smarter than I! Damn you all for fooling me. I think some of us are losing it in our old age. I'll stick around though.

I got a "reminder" note left on my windshield that my tag expired. I had forgotten about it, I doubt you could go a day driving in my city without getting pulled over, now she can write you a ticket EVERY time she see's you driving it until you get it registered..

Registration is 1% of car value means your car is worth in the neighborhood of 10k..
So you do have money, you just want free pass
That is why ticket is more than a fee, to deter likes of you.

not that i know of, because you can park your car and not drive it. if you have a garage and keep it there, there is no law that says just because a title is in your name means you have to register it for driving.

No, but most states require that if you don't plan to drive it that year that you file a PNO (planned non-operational) registration, which they charge you a little bit for (but less than registration.)

Either way, you have to fill out and mail the paperwork in. If you don't and you try again the following year, you WILL be responsible for both years.

Did you try telling her who your dad is? I've heard cops enjoy being told things like that.

You knew your registration was expired and still drove.

You rolled the dice and it comes up snake eyes.

I am sure you attitude did not help the situation either.

I got out once after being pulled over because the officer lied about how fast i was going and said I had a headlight out. Because he lied saying i was going 10 over when i knew i was doing 5 over i decided to check my headlight. He freaked out but did not take it out on me, only stating that is a common reaction. But i told him how he exaggerated my speeding therefore i felt compelled to check. It was the evening but not dark enough for me to notice.

But it is tacit to stay in a car when you get pulled over but there is no law that says you have to stay in your car. I even understand why cops do it, because they maintain control and order and do not want to get hurt, but again they can stop me when i am walking so i do not feel compelled to stay in the car.

I wonder how much trouble you could get in with Deputy Jones if you faked the registration sticker*.

*Note: Aikouka does not condone forging state documents! ...but he does love a good laugh at people doing silly things.

guys, i understand i need registration. i didnt have it because im broke, and i still dont understand why it costs over $100 every year to keep your name in a state registry.

My car registration is quite expensive at around $200 a year. The thing is that it isn't just registration as it's also taxes levied against my property (i.e. my car). When I was switching my registration to my new car, the people at the AL Title and Tag place told me that it goes toward schools and such. I jokingly said, "Well, next time I see a kid slacking off, I'm going to tell him, 'Hey there... who do you think is paying for your edumication!!'"
