Goddamn is there anything else on this planet more amazing then modern agriculture? It never ceases to amaze me just how far modern ag has come even in the last 50 years. I know this is kinda OT but I truly believe if it wasn't for modern agriculture we as a species wouldn't have progressed nearly as far as we have. You keep that up you will need one of these --

I tried to work with a few plants i got gifted, all i did was kill them. Not sure if it was a soil choice, even if the soil choice was marked for herbs. Not sure if to much sun out here in southern california, or if the plants just didn't have the will. I got various people telling me different things,i figured like anything else i ever grew tons of water and sun would be plenty. Was my first herb plant so perhaps i wasn't ready huh? They got dropped on my lap out of no where,They did need immediate transplanting and while i got a very good thumb it seemed these plants simply wanted to die.
Any tips you could offer? The shop who gifted them to me has a bunch of babies. I kinda wanna try again but i rather not kill another set. The original set was sorta screwed, the big one was nearly bursting out of its original pot and one was half dried out . Had this odd white taint to it, looked almost sick perhaps? I put them in 5 gallon paint buckets, punched a ton of holes and added in a dirt/soil mix. Pretty much direct sunlight all day where i placed them. Made sure they had plenty of water as well.
Thanks for any tips you could provide.
The best soil I've found is Soil Naturals Happy Frog. As for what you did wrong, it is hard to say. If the clones were initially grown indoors they need a few days to acclimate in the shade before putting them in direct sun. They also want to be fed when they start budding and there are plenty of pests and mildew that can cause issues. Neem oil can work well for the pests and, as for fertilizer, Fox Farms sell a nice 3 pack of fertilizer you can use and find at any hydroponics store.
You could always make your own edibles from flower, firecrackers are easy-peasy, but you can make cannabutter if you want to get more adventurous with your recipes. They have plants inside, under a heat lamp. None are bigger then like maybe 8 inches?Mainly Northern light plants. I guess a customer made a stink, returned these 2 and for whatever undisclosed reason they ended up outside like trash. They could have been fail plants and i got lied to as well perhaps? I took out their trash and was gifted them and was told to transplant them immediately. The bigger one was nearly 2 feet before it failed and dried up on me.
I asked a few friends on what to do before the transplant, one suggested nothing but sun and water and its fine. Made a big deal about how they are technically weeds and they don't give a shit about much of anything as long as they had plenty of water and sun . My other friend makes it sound like if i don't give them a blood sacrifice under a full moon it will up and turn over. Made a huge deal about how they aren't worth the time cause they are very picky.
I will try your soil, depending on how i feel about growing some more. Maybe i will try other herbs, i usually prefer edibles but i do like growing things and i love a challenge. Was just a bit discouraged cause honestly i have grown some amazing stuff with success then had this. Thanks for the recommendations and any possible tips you may still provide
