Yea, he is wrong. And he knows it. Price matters a lot to people. Price matters to Wreckage, otherwise he wouldn't be saying all AMD cards are way overpriced. But they are not all overpriced.

Since people usually recommend a card for a certain price after Rebate...then the 6870 you can get for $189 after Rebate. Which is faster than the GTX460 1GIG mostly even OC'd. However, does the $50+ dollars for a GTX560 make it worth the small premium in performance if people don't overclock/over volt/dont care about Physx/Cuda and all of those things ? I would say no.

And yes, I know a lot of people that don't care about any of that. As they also don't care about Eyefinity. Even know a few guys that don't even care if it has display port or HDMI.

So in my opinion, it is not about what is better/faster/cheaper. It is about the "buyer" and what they are going to be doing with the card.

With all due respect to you, you are ignoring the thread title and derailing the thread into another subject and for some reason avoiding answering my questions directly as they do pertain to the exact title of this thread.

Lets argue the facts of this thread , come to a conclusion, and if need be someone can start a new thread about the completly different subject you are talking about.
If no other cards existed in the world besides a GTX 560 Ti and a HD 6970 and both were OC'ed to the max and I had limitations on my budget I would buy a GTX 560 Ti eyes closed. Hope thanks answers your question.

Do they have DOF on? They don't say anywhere in that review. I have to say though. Now I really want a 6950 and unlock and overclock it. Seeing as a stock 560 is the same price as a 2gb 6950 over here.
From the link:
"[FONT=verdana, geneva]Metro 2033 supports a number of advanced DX11 features with the latest generation of DX11 graphics cards. Users with DX11 cards will experience advanced Depth of Field effects as well as Full Tessellation on character models, revealed THQ."

They later on say they used the stingiest settings so I think they did turn DOF on.

You ignore Clarkson's conclusions in the end though. He says the R-8 has no personality and offered next to no fun factor. He even said he wanted to buy a ZR1 when he got back to england. Not in this episode though.

Anyway, my original analogy was perfect even if you don't think so. Cost is a big factor, but not the only factor. Not by a mile.

But....maybe the R-8 has "plenty" of personality for someone else buying the car ? Just because it doesn't for that guy, doesn't mean anything.

Exactly right. To him. Maybe...just maybe the next person would love it ?

Like I said, the buyer decides what they want in a car. Not the seller/company. A buyer decides what card do buy, although most people that recommend them cards, are misguiding them. A buyer also decides which underwear they choose to wear.

See how that works ?

No, we don't need to start a new thread hat are discussing. the thread is comparing a cheaper card with a more expensive one, we don't have to only talk about the 2 cards in the title or we would have a million threads with minor differences. This isn't off topic, the thread just evolved into what we are discussing now.

You seem to state something like this in every GPU thread you post in. I believe it is nothing more than trying to point a derailment at another forum poster, because the person knows the thread was derailed so they try to get the heat off of themselves. So they point in another direction.

And yea, the thread did evolve. And it wasn't only Skurge that has been discussing the ongoing topic now. It has been more than the last few pages. So if it has been derailed, everyone did it and contributed. Not one person.

Edit: Even if it were still the facts of the thread topic, it isn't even facts. That is not a grudge match based on the OP. Whatsoever.

For me, the important question is "is it worth spending $250 at all on a video card when we will have 28nm cards in the fall"?

I think we're a few posts away from posting May in the Veyron. We'll be met with "but is 500000 dollars really worth an extra hundred or so km/h? For me? No, for you?" heh. This is what I meant about thresholds earlier.

Yes, it wasn't really about the cars and what you thought of them. It was an analogy of what you get for your money doesn't always make sense.

Forget cars and apply it to anything you can purchase in life that has more than one choice. Then you're golden.

So basically you agree with me then. Well done. Price is a factor, but not the ONLY factor. Are we going to have another back and fourth then? Heh, never saw so many people agree with me while all the while they believe they believe the contrary. It's interesting to say the least.
