GTA 4 for PC ?!

When I was nostalgic for Vice City and my PS2 disc broke I got it for PC and I didn't like it as much, the shooting was perfect and controlling tommy was easier (if not incredibly weird for the animations) but driving was pretty horrible. I much rather be aiming with the thumbstick and having auto-aim than dealing with the horrible digital driver controls. GTA is not even a pure shooter, shooting is just part of the experience, I don't need pixel perfect precision where auto-aim does the same thing, it's not like it's a dedicated shooter.

I thought shooting was very easy and quite fluid for the PC versions of GTA3 and San Andreas (never did PC Vice City, just PS2). I'm not sure how you have a negative experience. Could your graphics card have just been screwing things up? Even GTA3 played pretty much just like a FPS

I'm going to guess GTA IV for PC in like a year. It always took them a while to port it over.


GTA 4 WILL NOT BE RELEASED FOR PC ON APRIL 29.

They haven't even announced that they are even going to do it yet.

I bought GTA III, VC, and SA because I own a PS2 when all those games came out, however I do NOT own an XBOX360 nor a PS3 so I guess I'm going to go with the PC version. I was really annoyed though that each successive version of GTA required more system resources yet looked EXACTLY THE SAME as the PS2 version. If you're going to boost system requirements, you should at least use higher quality textures for christ sakes.

Less cops and pedestrians. You gotta have 10000 cops on you at all times. If you played Liberty City Stories, like 3-4 cops on average. But it was nearly the same on PSP imo.

You know I was listening to 1up yours (the 4/18/08) episode and they were discussing some San Andreas Mod for the PC and some of the things they described were amazing. They made it seem like it was an MMO. I've been trying to find this mod on the net but I can't find it and I don't know what it is called. Anyone know about it?

geefizzle: your logic loses. Under your reasoning if it hasn't been confirmed or announced, there couldn't be any speculation or leaks, or better yet, iIf GTA4 hasn't been confirmed yet, that must mean it will never come out.

Why would we not be able to answer the question whether or not it is coming to the PC period, but at the same time be able to say if it'll be Vista only.

Relax buddy, it hasn't been announced for PC, let alone being Vista exclusive. No one skipped your question, they just couldn't answer it.

VC: PS2 to PC in 7 1/2 months
SA: PS2 to PC in 8 months

360 to PC conversion should be less work than from PS2. Also, since it's on two consoles I doubt there's any contracted minimum exclusivity period.

On the other hand perhaps an even bigger, more detailed GTA means more time to convert. April 29 is a big delay for the consoles, there's a question as to whether they were working on the PC version during that time or had all hands on the consoles.

Overall I wouldnt be surprised to see them at least aiming to grab some xmas sales.

While I agree with you on the auto-aim thing... I still prefer a game pad for GTA IV simply because of the driving. If it comes to PC I'll play it on my 360 controller or maybe a kb/m + gamepad combination but I can't stand kb+m for GTA, I played through Vice City with it and while I got used to it driving around (which is one of my favorite things about GTA) just wasn't as fun.

The "auto aim" somehow becomes specific when you can shoot someone in the leg and have them start limping. Unless its just a random bullet.

I used to pick up the pad for driving and quickly drop it to grab kb+mouse for going on foot. kb+mouse was still ok for driving but it just had to be the pad for those damn remote control planes and stuff.

Well the reviews are almost all perfect so as long as it eventually makes it to pc, i think i can keep busy till then. I wouldn't be shocked by a Xmas release (Please?)

Neither would I, considering the normal time frame for a GTA PC port is 6-7 months

I wonder what is the reasoning behind releasing GTA IV for consoles only.... I must say I am pretty pissed, since I only now found out GTA IV is not coming for PC on Apr 29th. (I was 100% sure it would)

Correct me if I am wrong, but all previous GTAs came out for PC earlier than for consoles, or a little later after console release. I don't recall it being months or years later. What gives? did it suddenly become more profitable to release games for consoles as opposed to games for PCs?

Only reason I can imagine for this is piracy... But that would be stupid, since I could copy console games just as easily as PC games if I wanted to. In fact, with consoles it would be easier.


Be it as it may, did you guys see that this game got a 10 on gamespot? I think that's pretty amazing, since this must be the 1st time I've seen gamespot give a perfect 10 to any game. At least in the last few years.
