*SPOILER TAGS MISSING BECAUSE ON PHONE*
Overall, I thought the story was incredibly stupid. The FIB stuff made so little sense. Oh, you have to rob a bank to buy a helicopter rather than just steal ANOTHER helicopter. And the fact that you don't just kill the guys blackmailing Michael into doing this is rather stupid. The "Oh, they'll be taking a closer look at us if you kill him" makes no sense when you're robbing military convoys, government buildings, banks, and blowing up all kinds of nonsense.
Agree. I am still pissed about the submarine mission when I threw away $20M because I'm scared of the heat, despite stealing multiple fighter jets. And having to spend $2M on a mission for a cargo helicopter when I already stole one in an earlier mission is simply bad story writing. There's no excuse for it.
And in the mission with the crashed cargo plane why didn't I just dive for it in a subsequent mission and sell the gear? Again it just makes no sense.
The FIB so far doesn't make sense. I wanted to kill Steve immediately but he's still there. Also, I have no idea why I couldn't kill Martin so that he'd let me back in the city instead of paying him off.
There should have been a way to set up your own heists. There is no point in most of the members leveling up. If you pick the cheap, garbage member with the hopes of leveling them up so they can be good for cheap; they just die on the mission AND you lose their cut to their family.
There are not enough heists to really make it matter anyway. Let's be honest the heists are too easy anyway. The gun fights are pretty easy to get done first stab.
The world, especially after you do all the missions, is pretty bland.
I bet it will be, but it always has been I'm afraid. I never play a game of any kind for long after finishing main story. I just find it becomes immediately utterly pointless, whether it's Skyrim or GTA.
I'm not done the game yet. I give it a 9/10. It's an excellent game, and I've put a lot of hours into it so far but with:
1) Garages not working properly at all
2) Stock market not working properly
3) Thoroughly uninteresting story
4) Weird other glitches or "deliberate decisions", such as:
a) upgrading brakes in a car from stock to top of the line only moving the braking bar by about four pixels
b) Franklin able to hold far less ammunition than Michael despite being way more built (I know strength can be developed, but I spent no time doing it on any character)
c) If cops are looking for me but do not actually know where I am I've often found they seem to magically congregate on foot to my location, even though radar claims they don't know where I am
d) if another car taps me even lightly I fall over and then take about 30 minutes to get the hell off the ground. This is very annoying.
e) Holy hell, why can't these idiots run up and down stairs? I can run up and down stairs way faster and I'm not even in a video game.
The game overall is superb, but it was definitely given a date and, come hell or high water, it was going to meet it. So it did, but it fell a bit short in some ways. The garage thing I really just cannot forgive it on this. Garages are an essential point of GTA games and they do not work in this one for a shit. I really would have loved to drive around in a fully decked out Challenger with red-smoking tires--all things I can do--except I can't, because then if I hit a freaks and geeks mission or something the thing can disappear and not even show at impound.
