I just completed the Big Score, earning roughly $30M per character. But the money isn't showing up. I figured maybe I just had to wait a few days, so I went and did some random missions (strangers, random encounters and nuclear waste salvage), slept a bunch to advance time a few days, still nothing. Do I have to complete the final showdown that starts at Franklin's house before I see any money from the heist? I was hoping to get paid and finish out the assassination contracts first so I could get the big bucks and buy up all the properties prior to ending the game.

They are having server issues, it's common with so much bandwidth. There was an article on Cnet about this.

Balls. I was looking forward to clearing a few hundred million last night only to be foiled because I couldn't be bothered to take on the final mission at 11:30 PM. Obviously I'm not going to choose option A or B, and option C looks like it takes a while. Oh well. Guess I'll wrap it up after work tonight. I'm pretty sure my wife is going to get sick of me saying "I'm starting the rampage now," Archer-style, as I massacre everyone who wronged me.

Well, made my online character, had Lamar drive me somewhere, got out and the game makes you walk into the first race. You can't just do what you want right away, which would be okay if the matchmaking worked... looking for players endlessly.

They seem to be doing something since I was able to save my online character, so hoping the next issue will be dealt with in a timely fashion.

I hate racing. The car physics are really annoying. That's frustrating to hear.

Did you use his special ability at all? Because that makes it a breeze. I was in a slower car than everyone else (because I didn't bother to bring a good one with me), and I ended up beating everyone by several blocks because I could slow time and take turns at full tilt.

This is what I did. It helped that I also had maxed my special stat before I even did the first race. I took the car that was next to the Asian dude ? that start it and dominated the race.

I think the problem for a lot of people is they just floor the gas all the time. Driving in GTA takes a little more finesse. The races are really easy as long as you take it steady and try not to crash.

I don't really get how the stock market works. I bought a bunch of shares in a company before an assassination mission, and within the same game day it went up about 50% (I made 50k). I died, respawned at the hospital and now my profit is only at $22k, but the graph is still going up. Should I be selling within minutes of these missions, or am I supposed to wait days?

The graph is broken currently. Also, the ideal time is around 6 hours after I believe. Plus, whatever the competitor you just hurt, buy that stock. It will recover for even more massive profits.

Well all I did was hold the power button. I created my character and saved it but can't join online.

The opening race for me just stops at waiting for other players multiple times. I'm calling it a night, gonna try again tomorrow.

So upgrading cars now is safe? And once I upgrade a car I can not lose it, it just gets impounded if I leave it somewhere?

Stupidest idea ever (well, for an open world game) to have some mandatory multiplayer race to start. I'd be happy just to run around by myself in a private online world, but can't do that, because I have to do all the pre-you-can-play stuff.

Once when I got in, the race circle wasn't even there. I was able to run around and shoot people/etc, but not hijack cars, and it turns out you can't waste Lamar. Got bored of that fast though.

Really getting aggravated; regardless of all the fanboy 'its the first day; Rockstar make sweet love to me' posts. Even the worst MMO first day experience I had... I was actually able to play, even if I got booted off regularly.

havnt been able to get online with gta 5 all day... just says failed to host a game. God forbid rockstar ever do an MMO, it would fail so horribly, it would be as if elder scrolls came out as an MMO it would suck so bad.

Finally got in, spent an hour... not very impressed so far.

You know that first race where you get stuck 'waiting for players'? It turns out to be a race against the AI Lamar; not other people... yea wth.

And if you go to do a job and nobody else is waiting to play it; only way to get back into the game is to drop to the 360 dashboard and restart. Hopefully fixed soon. *EDIT* Seems to be only certain things like Deathmatch.

You pick a car early on; make sure to get a good fast one, because you have to buy all others. You put a 'tracker' on it that makes it yours and have to buy insurance if it is stolen... but the second game I joined, somebody else jumped into my car and took off as soon as I spawned, and the insurance company lines were 'busy'... guess you can grief by simply taking someone else's car, and they can't get it back if you are still in it. *EDIT* You can set a preference to let only you, friends, etc use your personal car (glad I found this)

Kind of a cool aspect; you can be labeled a 'bad sport' if you bail on missions and I guess other things, and if you keep doing that, you can ONLY play with other bad sports.

Pretty laggy. Driving is a lot harder than in single player. On a few missions I literally teleported blocks and blocks away (probably to synch with others, dunno). *EDIT* Next time I played it was a lot smoother.

Thinking this is something I'll only want to play solo for a while by the way I was griefed.. people already flying around in jet planes blowing up players on the ground. Running over you in cars at every opportunity. But this just might be new players messing around.

*EDIT* Turns out you can rank up just playing in a private online instance. You can do races by yourself (not sure if count toward the achievement- doubt it), and you get RP (XP?) for doing things like evading police and losing your wanted level. Still don't understand what the benefit of JP is (job points?).

I thought you could join a crew of friends and do missions or jobs. Maybe the job points count as experience for how much money you get once you get done a job?

If people are already running around blowing up stuff that doesn't really make sense. So it's open world but you aren't really protected from someone coming up to you and killing you. I could not get in last night I will have to try again after work today.

The game will forever be plagued by griefing and trolling. Rockstar totally screwed up on the online portion.


Even when you go passive and you use the phone people just run you over.
