ive basically barricaded myself in the back room at the strip club while cops keep running in and dying. Didnt realise I did that for over an hour and filled up on all the ammo. The shottie is pretty deadly if you prefire doors.

Now I have cash and ammo for the beginning of the game

May be a bit soon but gowd damn this is a good game.

May be time to upgrade my GTX680 finnally since I run a 30 inch dell.

Runs crazy good on my secondary rig with a 6990 i7 as well on a 1080 120hz monitor as well.

Cant believe how well everything is working. Only crashes I have had have been from the benchmark. It runs entire set then hangs up on exit.

Best game in since Alien!

Runs pretty well on my 970. The nvidia optimizer thing wants to turn on all the 'advanced' settings to max, not sure if I should disable those and increase the regular ones a bit or not.

Also, I see lots of shadow pop-ins especially when driving, particularly for buildings and things.

Oh and does anyone play with the Xbone controller? I still have the 360 one which works fine but was just wondering if the Xbone pad isn't a bit better.

So, I bumped up my q9500 from stock 2.83ghz to 3.31ghz, netted me an extra 10fps. So, with everything on maxed out settings I am getting ~29fps at 1920x1080p on my TV. Tis a beautiful thing. I am so back into PC gaming. My only problem is after abandoning PC gaming for so many years I cannot for the life of me get back into KB/Mouse gaming. Have to use a controller. I downloaded mass affect 2 for the PC from the Humble Bundle deal last week and cannot play as it is KB/M only. Gonna take a while before I get acclimated again.

I found that the nvidia optimizer killed performance in the game. Either turn things down to high, or turn on adaptive vsync to handle the constant framerate fluctuations.

Hmm it didn't kill performance for me, actually runs pretty well. Will mess around more with the settings myself to see what is best

I picked it up this weekend and played a couple of hours so far, on the Story mode. Having a blast so far. I have it on medium quality for most things (putting it on high texture makes the video memory bar go into the red and over the max amount) and get 40-60 FPS and it runs great and looks quite nice.

My only complaint with it so far is the fucking camera. Holy fuck is that thing terrible. So many times it just moves into weird ass angles, like way high up right over the car looking down on the roof or it just pans around to the left or right for no reason. Frustrating but I put up with it.

By the way, my system is Core i5 750 (2.66 GHz, yeah old) and Radeon 7870.

I remember in GTA 4 you can kill the gun clerk any clerk for that matter if you don't want to pay and prep for a little fight or maybe some cops. This one you have to "trick it" to do the same thing... Hell even mafia 2 allowed you to... kind of annoying.

Sure you don't have the cinematic camera option on?

No weird camera here... is your mouse sensitivity so high that a small bump of the mouse forward instantly points the camera downwards? Also do you have a game pad hooked up you aren't using but could accidentally have one of its thumb sticks pressed to the side? I've booted into FF14 a couple times with the camera going wacky only to realize my gamepad that I don't use is on the floor upside down.

Im not sure how a gamepad works as Ive never used one for GTA, but if you are using a KB+M, then you are controlling the camera with the mouse. Took me a little while to get used to after exclusively playing first person shooters for so long.

Speaking of first person....Im oddly finding that I prefer third person even while on foot in this game. First person just feels too claustrophobic even with a high FOV setting to me.

I found comedy gold with what i call"super soaker assault 5000".Grab yourself a fire truck and as you cause havoc simply press the right mouse button and watch water with enough force come from the hose up top to knock anyone on their ass and fling them upwards of 20+ feet!

I had a army of cops on me,4 stars simply from blasting people with the hose.A couple cops came out their cars and guess what? Knocked them off their ass and they ragdolled.Blew the hood off one of the cars actually and somehow another car blew up.

My sides are hurting, absolutely a blast.I recommend it!

Yeah I favor the 3rd person viewpoint as well.

It ends up being a pain in the butt. The game switches things to third person for cutscenes, and when it goes back to gameplay its still in 3rd. I have gotten tired of changing it back and just leave it in 3rd now. Same thing with the radio stations. I wish you could just turn it off and have it stay off in every car, so now I just leave it on whatever station its on. And the same thing with clothing! The game always wants to change my clothing, and I got tired of going back to the safehouse to change it. Well, not really, since now I use the cab fast travel for everything. Gotta look good when I'm doing my crimes, but it is a hassle. Even the design of Franklin's second house is a hassle for changing clothes. The closet is down the stairs and down the hall. I miss San Andreas style customization where everything was persistent. Although I remember you could work out and get buff or eat too much and get fat.

BTW, its strange but the characters facial hair appears to grow. My characters had stubble, and now their beards are pitch black. Weird that the game gives you some customization, but then penalizes you for trying to do it by making maintenance a chore.

I think I definitely hit that point where I want the game to end.

using the in-game FOV or modded FOV to go above the in-game max?

using the modded FOV to go above in-game and first person feels fine to me

Looks much better with the FOV mod: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VPRjjD7Ca0

However no one knows if this is actually safe to use with GTAV's Anti-Cheat system....
Yeah that looks pretty good, but I think Ill wait and see how it goes with the anti-cheat before I install a mod like that.

That video just reminded me of another annoyance I have with the game. What's the purpose of buying/using a red dot sight if you cant aim down the sights?

You can set the music volume in the settings to 0 to get around that. Or if you prefer you can set up your own radio station with your own songs.

Im going to make my own playlist eventually, but for now Im getting a kick out of all the talk radio nonsense. Fernando, Lazlo, and the rest of those clowns have always been a big draw for me in the GTA series.

I have not had the game mess with my camera settings. It always goes back to first person when on foot, and always maintains the same 3rd person cameras in cars. I think it works perfect. I love the first person view. Even if it has a small FOV.

BTW, its strange but the characters facial hair appears to grow. My characters had stubble, and now their beards are pitch black. Weird that the game gives you some customization, but then penalizes you for trying to do it by making maintenance a chore.

You seem to have an extreme dislike of having a changing world. I'm a big anime fan but my biggest problem with anime is no one ever changes outfits. Character design never changes in a series. So I am all for the characters automatically changing outfits when i haven't used them. The only one that annoys me is when I need trevor and he has stripped to his jimmies and miles from his safe house.

Btw I had no even realized that the characters had actively growing beards. I gave franklin a neatly trimmed beard when I started and noticed he had kind of a 5 o'clock going but was just thinking that was just part of the original cut. That is just even more awesome though.

Not sure if this helps, but you can lock the perspective into each mode (driving and on foot).

I prefer on foot to be First Person, and driving to be 3rd Person. With the independent perspective on, these settings stick.
