And then they delayed it again, to April.

http://www.rockstargames.com/newswi...tes-online-heists-coming-march-10-gtav-for-pc

GTAV for PC will be arriving on April 14th at retail and as a digital download. Our apologies to PC gamers worldwide who have been counting down the days until the launch of the game, but a bit more time is needed to ensure that the game is as polished as possible, and to make certain that both Heists and the GTA Online experience are ready to roll out on day one for PC. As a gesture of thanks for your understanding, we will grant anyone who has pre-ordered the game an additional $200,000 in-game cash for use in GTA Online.

The PC version of GTA 5 was initially slated for November, then it was delayed to January, then it was delayed to March, and now it has been delayed to April. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets delayed by another month.

I had momentarily forgot about the April delay, and that post got me thinking, "is it really about to release? OMG can't wait!"
And then I thought it might be a good idea to temper my hopes and look up the current release date, and sure enough, I found that April 14th date as well.

Still images always looked better than motion videos. There always seem to be latency of how much detail can be written into one frame at a time before the entire image is fully rendered when graphics are in motion.

When I finally start playing Grand Theft Auto V on my custom-built PC (which has a Intel Core i5 4670 and a GTX780) on April 14th,2015..

The morning of April 15th is going to SUCK.(I have to be at work by 8 AM.)

Basically,I'll be up late playing.

Can't wait!!!

Unfortunately the discount and the in game cash bonus are attached to preorders. Since I dodged the console versions and haven't even seen the game running all this time, paying full price is the way to go for me. Do want but not before digital foundry breakdown and port reports.

Dual core is dead for gaming. Next gen (HA!) consoles have 8 cores, at least 6 of them will be in use. I wouldn't even use a plain dual core (sub i3) in an a daily office box now actually.

Those 8 cores have about as much throughput as an Intel dual core. Granted, there's probably some inefficiency to running 8 heavily loaded threads on a dual core, but I'd imagine a core i3 is more than enough to keep up with the consoles.

I think the bigger issue is just that DX12 isn't here yet, so games on PC have trouble making effective use of more than 2 cores. The draw call numbers one PS4 dev said they're achieving on all (6?) cores match roughly what 3 Intel cores can do under DX12 in the Star Swarm benchmark and beat what any number of Intel cores can do under DX11.

Still images always looked better than motion videos. There always seem to be latency of how much detail can be written into one frame at a time before the entire image is fully rendered when graphics are in motion.

Still images generally have AA and resolution pumped up to ridiculous levels.
Also, your monitor and your eyes blur images in motion. Get a better monitor / TV and you can significantly reduce the amount of motion blur. Plasma and CRT displays have innately low motion blur, and LCDs can achieve it with an Ultra Low Motion Blur feature, although I'd imagine LCDs are somewhat limited by pixel response time. Heck, even plasmas and CRTs have some amount of innate motion blur.
See this for examples: http://www.blurbusters.com/zero-motion-blur/10vs50vs100/
Most LCD screens have a severe amount of motion blur and poor resolution for anything in motion. Your eyes also do some amount of blurring, which is why a sequence of frames looks like motion to you instead of individual pictures.

One thing I always wished GTA PC games would allow, is custom setting of the 'circle of influence'.

You know how you spin around, and cars in the distance disappear if you look the other way then back? The circle of influence is far too small, to accommodate consoles; would love if I could set it to whatever I want no matter the performance hit.

That will be the only determining factor for me. I heard PS4 did it better, but not dropping the money for an entire console for one game, so I'm hopeful for PC. But I played on PS3 and it was awful. Couldn't even jump to one other car just to see what it was without my old car disappearing, or cause a pileup and douse it with gasoline without having at least 90% of them disappear before you're done.

Ruined not only the immersion, but a ton of hours of fun factor for me. I stopped playing specifically because of it.

THe online portion is designed to be a long-lasting experience. You get supercars and megarich very fast in the single player portion of the game. If this was the case in the online game, people would play for a month and quit. They want this to be like an RPG experience where you invest a lot of time into your character.

Considering when I played, that the biggest payout was $12,000, and there are $24 million dollar cribs, and many million+ dollar cars, the payoffs just seemed ridiculously low. Combined with the ability to buy in-game money, to me it was a blatant cash grab.

The newly released heists help in bigger payouts with most being $40K+
I just did a heist were I got $146K and I wasn't even the host!

Well that's definitely better than what it was; don't think heists were in when I played.

Well folks, I rented the PS4 version because I wanted to see how a next-gen console could handle a large open world. The short answer is it can't at least to my eyes. Can you say jaggy? They're everywhere and very profound while driving.

Regarding games being delayed I'm all for it as long as the end result shows. Before all this delaying started don't forget how many folks complained about unfinished games. Maybe they're finally listening. And not to mention we all probably have a huge backlog of games to play while waiting.

yeah the new consoles aren't really good for open world games because the CPU's can't handle much. open world gaming requires a lot more CPU power than a linear game.

supposedly rockstar is also enhancing the physics on the PC version of the game. hopefully the "circle of influence" is a bit bigger and more permanent (though I understand their reason for not making destruction fully permanent, it would be nice if it stayed around longer as long as you were in the area)

lol I missed the 27% off from GMG by a couple hours...

It'll happen again. Keep an eye out on the VIP deals section for it, or your emails. If not 27%, I'm sure you'll get a 22-25% off coupon that will work.

New PC screens for GTA V.

PC version is shaping up to look pretty damn spectacular I must say, a nice step up from the PS4 version in level of detail and texture work.

It looks like a completely different game from what I played on the PS3. And given that it's been 18+ months, it will feel fresh again! I just hope it's reasonably well optimized; those shots look like the sort of bullshots that would drag quad Titans into the single digit framerates. But if it looks even half that good and runs on my rig, I'll almost certainly pick it up.

For those whining, please be patient. Would you like to be playing a buggy and unreleased mess, or would you like to play a mostly polished game with a few quirks here and there?

You know I've never EVER played a GTA game before, and I'm not even sure I want to play this one. I don't like games where you play as criminals..

But I wouldn't mind using this game as a benchmark or test for my rig, and the graphics looks amazing of course.

For those that have already played the game, how would you rate the SP campaign?
