Wait, how many games do you know of support a 6 degrees of motion controller? You can't just plug a rift into any game you want. It will do a stereoscopic display, but head tracking is a whole nother ball game.

I don't expect it to adapt 100%. I don't mind if head tracking(tilting etc.) is missing or If I cant see my legs n feet. I just want to feel that I am standing there. In middle of the bustling city, with every other person swears just for fun...

There are many fps games with limited or no 'turn' functionality(no tilt at all).

I will give it one(max2) months before some make gta v working (decent enough) with OR.

Still getting random crashes and an offer to "retry". Nothing hardware related, only the game takes a dump. You'd think after 18 months it'd be pretty stable. And as I've said, big world but you still have the same old buildings you can't enter and some world assets/textures are console era plus you can't really "interact" with the world either unless its baked in. If this was next gen only mmmmm.

Not a single crash, nearly everything maxed except for the extra graphics sliders (no fps issues, however I get vram-related mini stutters). Absolutely beautiful game, just not much time to play it

Expect that 152Mbit to be 300Mbit in the next 18 months (50>100, 100>200 & 152>300 coming soon). Actually bandwidth expansion is taking a back seat to speed increases. Where I did some contract work (Newnet ISP) there was an average speed increase of 278% and in the 2 years prior and since just a 20% boost in available bandwidth.

Cool, I'm with virgin media, they upgrade the network quite reguarly now and the engineers I last spoke to said they're getting speeds up to 300Mbit easily in testing, their high quality coax is a great stop gap until fibre finally gets to the home.

In some ways the additional burst speeds help with bandwidth, like the other night I started the GTA download at 10 and finished it 11:30, but if they'd throttled that down and drawn out the bandwidth usage over say 12-18 hours then it would just be putting more load on peak hours.

To me it's well worth it paying for decent internet, not only is it faster but there's less caps on data usage on higher packages, VM I think just put in speed throttles once you've exceeded X amount of data in X many hours, either they ignore that late at night OR they made consessions for steam/GTA release because I banged out that 60Gb at full speed which I wasn't sure if they'd allow. Fantastic service.

I wonder if the vram usage indicator in the menu is even remotely accurate?I guess the game loves to cache vram as i peak over 2gb even with everything at its lowest at 720p.Wanted to bench my old 770 and compare to 970 but i wasn't sure if the indicator was accurate enough to use for setting adjustments.

maxed out 768p on my t.v,indicator claims 3.4gb vram usage but i don't really peak over 3.2gb......

What would you all recommend as the best controller to play GTA V?

Thanks in advance!

I was having crashing issues on Tuesday. Pretty much, whenever I went to modify graphics settings it would hang after applying and crash out. Alt+tab out of the game tended to hang it too. Didn't have time to dig into why because some good basketball games were on. So, first thing Wednesday after work I updated to the 15.4 beta drivers from AMD. Those above crashes were gone, and I got ~90 minutes in story mode, all while tweaking graphics settings as I went along.

One quirk so far is that it's not correctly handling 2560x1440 VSR on my 1920x1080 monitor. When I go 1440 it'll throw a border around the screen, and if I alt+tab out even once, the resolution in game reverts to 1080. . .sometimes still with a border around the edges that needs one more alt+tab to 'fix.' Another is that the game runs at a pretty constant 60fps with most things at or near max, except it seems like no matter what settings I'm at the fps drops to ~45 while driving. It's not that noticeable though. Once the FPS counter is off I'd be hard pressed to know exactly when it's dipping to the 40's.

Game itself is even more fun than I remember it being on PS4. I get a little lost on controls sometimes because I use keyboard and mouse for gun play, and 360 controller for everything else, but it's hard to step away from once you get into the swing of things. Next up is I need to get the online portion going and try that out.

Oh, system specs if anyone is wondering:

i5 4430
8gb ram
240gb ssd
Sapphire tri-x 290

Xbox 360/One wired/wireless without hesitation

No reason not include the DS4 as well. It works in any game the 360/one controller works. Just need to install drivers and plug it in.

This is how I play Dark souls 2 on PC, DS4 = <3

Also, I dont have any crashing or stability issues. My main problem is my CPU(a10-7850k) just isn't powerful enough to allow a consistent 60fps. It will sit around 30-40 Fps even at the lowest graphics settings.

Oh well, I have been playing it on my brothers computer which is an i5-4690k and an r9 270x, it hits 60FPS with everything set to high and medium AA.

So, I finally ran the benchmark on my ancient system. A Q9550 socket 775, 8gb DDR2 ram and an r290 4gb video card. Connected to my HDTV res at 1920x1080 and all graphic options and advanced graphic options at max and vsync on full I averaged 20fps. I am sure if I toned it down a bit I can get 40-50 easily but on max the game looks beautiful and plays well. I'm really impressed at rockstar for mostly getting this right on release day.

Play for about 1/2 hour last night at 1440 and didn't have any issues. Frame rate stayed maxed with vsync running two 970's in SLI and a i7-4790k.
Game seems like it's going to be fun.

Paste your results if you wouldn't mindCurious to see if your cpu is holding you back or if that is what the 290 delivers.I maxed out my game at 1080p and got this on my 970....

What are peoples opinions on the best trade offs for performance/graphics then. I want to stick with 2560x1600 and I'm at about 55fps at the moment, I've tried tweaking a little bit but there's so many combinations of options that it's tough to tell where is best to free up performance.

People have said Grass from ultra down to very high helps and doesn't look much different, even just 2xMSAA at 2560x1600 is killer but I want to keep that on. Ideally want another 10-15fps to get a steady 60-70fps just not sure what to drop.

It's definitely the CPU if he averages that low on 1080p.

I have 2x290x in Crossfire, but I am driving 3x1080p monitors. I have so far settled on mostly High settings and seem to have a pretty smooth experience though there are definitely low numbers in the benchmark result.
I do have oddities that I am wondering if a new driver will resolve, but unfortunately I am on the latest AMD beta they released for the game, and I suspect there won't be another driver to test this theory for a fair bit of time.

princess frosty, have you tried using mfaa instead?

If you are using SLI then mfaa doesn't work. I dunno if princess frosty is or not, I am on my phone.

Turning grass to very high from ultra took me from 45-50 fps to a nearly locked 60fps all the time. It really is a resource killer. I would like to see a comparison of The two because when you change the setting the game restarts so I can't do a back and forth to see.

Anyone have bad stutter using crossfire? My 2x290x's stutter like a mofo. During the benchmark I will stay around 40 FPS until I get the stutter that drops it to 25 FPS for a split second.
