Two negative things Ive noticed since installing GTA V.

1. Ive had 2 bluescreen crashes on a system that has been rock solid for over 2 years. The first happened while installing the 353MB unlock patch on release day, and the other just now while simply browsing the web.

2. Same PC will not go to sleep on its own anymore, double checked power options and it still set correctly.

Im by no means positive either of these issues are directly related to the game but the only things Ive changed on this PC recently is the installation of GTA V and the latest Nvidia driver released for it. :\

Been running great for me. 0 crashes, no problems at all with about 10 hours in. Runs fluid at 60fps 1600p with every setting at the max and 2xmsaa.

Such a change from GTAIV performance lol. I just played through 4 a couple months ago. Glad I did now, because don't think I could ever play it again, despite being by far my most played game on Steam.

I do kinda wish the cars in GTA5 were a bit more sim instead of 100% arcade, but it's damn hard to complain coming from the ass that was GTA4 handling.

People say that crashes the game quickly because of memory leak. I'll try it later and see.

I have a feeling the 'launcher' is also the jump app that ties into your rockstar account. Killing that process likely fubars the game's ability to save content or something.

it's a common misconception that GTA4's handling is ass

infact GTA5's physics are a downgrade

Ass is subjective. I personally wasn't a fan of GTA4's floaty/slippery vehicles.

Agreed. And I know it was based in NYC but the streets were way too narrow. The whole gaming world felt narrow IMO.

I don't think so. I would say GTA4's physics were a little more.. not sure how to put it.. raw? It wasn't realistic by any means, gta 4 was one of the OG games that delt with some funny physics. I love me those videos where a truck flying at mach 5 comes barreling through the air and runs you over out of fn no where.

GTA5s physics do seem a little more toned down in that things are a little more weighty and not so much flying through the air stuff. On the other hand GTA5 explosions have way more particles and debree, and best of all they DON'T KILL YOUR FRAME RATE. I hated how it was so hard to enjoy GTA4's explosive scenes cause the computer came screeching to a halt because of the toll the physics put on the engine. On the other hand right from the first mission GTA5 demonstrates nice looking pyrotechnics that didn't even phase the frame rate.

I am not sure how much of this is done on the pc version, but I think the reason things ran so well on the last gen consoles for GTA5 is because rockstar managed an engine that was able to instantly react to the gpu load on a scene and scaled back polygons and maybe even physics accuracy in realtime to keep the frame rate up. I was absolutely amazed that no matter where the camera turned in a cut scene.. or how many explosions went off, the frame rate stayed up high.

This is the first game to max out my two 7970 Vapor-X's in Xfire. I can get everything maxed and slightly turn on one or two of the additional graphics settings @ 2560x1600. Have to say though that the game is damn gorgeous, perhaps the nicest I've ever seen.
