All this is new to me since I don't play on any of the consoles. Am I right to assume the PC version is identical to the other versions other than graphics quality? It's a shame I had to wait 2 years to get it on my platform of choice, but thankfully they did a much better job this time around compared to GTA4.
I find there to be a lot of differences between 360 and pc. Cars handle differently (better on PC), cops arent on you as much and easier to get away from in PC version. Different/more NPCs in pc version, more variety of animalc in pc version, just loads of differences. Hell, I was playing GTAV up until a day before PC release. So its all still fresh in my head.
Anyone else find the combination of the cell phone, the map menu, and social club menu to be overwhelming? Trying to play a game with your friends is a terrible chore. Sometimes you finish a mission and you're in separate "sessions." You're not even in the same game world anymore.
Also, I've been having a ton of crashes with a fairly high end, problem free PC.
Beat the hell out of a car in storymode, get out then run a benchmark then it returns you to the same car but your in it and its fully restored.I don't recall this happening before but perhaps this is a glitch?I know i at least wasn't returning to the game with me in the car, that is for sure but cars fixing themselves is a awesome glitch.
all of a sudden, i get an email saying that my account has changed to some other email, and now i can't log in.. anybody else getting that?
So 6hrs solid gaming today and not a single crash. That BIOS update did seem to cure them. This was before the patch today too. That or some Windows updates. Some choice Trevor screenshots + graphics quality - rain + reflections + night too below. And a bonus of Michael on drugs. After 6hrs RAM usage cracked 6GB overall, less Win 8.1 that is creeping close to 4.5GB just for GTA V. Nothing else is on this box or in the background.
I'd say GTA VI needs to evolve with a different template. More buildings need to be enterable, the world needs to be more interactive (not just adding yoga and golf and tennis + classic rampages) and organic when it comes to businesses but the core gameplay is still solid. GTA is its own genre really.
If you swap between players and back again in singleplayer, it also fixes your car. So if you're driving along as Franklin and your car gets beat up, swap to Michael then immediately back to Franklin and you'll be in the same spot in a magically restored vehicle. Swapping to Michael/Franklin is generally more reliable since Trevor is occasionally in the middle of a police chase when you switch to him and you can't immediately switch back.
I am pleased to say I fixed my issue!
For some strange reason a BIOS update for my X99 board seems to have cured the crashes. Need to test further. Odd. Performance is still rock solid though. This game certainly wants CPU.
Made and uploaded a "PS4 Equivalent Settings" video to show how my R9 270 and i5-4690K setup really just goes so much further beyond the Vsync 30 FPS PS4 build of the game:

How do you switch anyways?I just have been exploring but i got a popup about someone being unlocked. How i play them idk yet.Need to start playing missions .Haven't even been online yet.
Just a heads up, you do match the ps4 in most settings, heres a few things discovered through a PS4 comparison,
DX11 is used, obviously.
As you might expect, the majority of settings are set to high with a few exceptions that are higher.
Textures setting is Very High
FXAA is the only AA used.
4x anastropic
Grass = Very High (Xbox uses a modified setting which produces shadows but the foliage is less dense)
Shadow high, soft shadows but a smaller filtering frustum around player.
High tesselation (Does not change amount of tess used, just the distance which it is used).
Population bar >70
Distance bar %100
(Observed that consoles don't line up as many parked cars)
Trying to find budget systems to compare this too becomes difficult because of the video ram requirements. Some reviewers do still feel the 750gtx is a contender for PS4 or better graphic options. I think the video RAM issue will create such an unstable frame rate that you wouldn't WANT too. Sure sometimes youll get 50fps, but then a fire fight breaks out and it tanks to 20fps, thats no fun. I think we need to find the cheapest cards with 3-4gb, anything in ATI's corner?
