GTA V: PC Version

They never said yes or no. But following their history, we should hear something in a few months about when a PC version comes out.

I'll be renting it for my PS3 for a few days with Redbox to get a taste of it, but will wait to buy it on the PC.

Even if it does come out I'm 6 months, everyone knows what a horrible port it's going to be. This is not going to be a durst day purchase for me. I'd definitely wait and watch for when a proper playable version comes out.

Well, GTA3 was a terrible port and Vice City got much much better. I'm hoping the same for GTAIV and V.

As far as I know they haven't said a word one way or the other yet. There was an article recently about how GTAV is the most expensive video game production to date at approx. 265m, and that they have made that investment back on pre-orders. If that's true, then they've done it without even announcing a PC version. What that tells me is that if they do a port, it will be more or less an afterthought to scrape a few more bucks out of it as the console market saturates. Which, come to think about it, is pretty much what GTAIV was. Given that they didn't bother with porting Red Dead Redemption, there is at least this little bit of a doubt in the back of my mind that we'll even get a PC version of GTAV. I think the main thing we have going for us is that they have a history on the PC with that game.

GTA IV was hands down the worst console port I've ever come across. The horrible pc optimization made it stutter and give framerate issues on most high end pcs of that time. It was only after the third patch iirc that things started looking better. Even then it was in no way as optimized as some other games like Max Payne 3.

Fuck Rockstar, they ignore PC for the most part, and when they put one of their games on PC it's always a terrible port.

In the latest PC Gamer mag that article they have with the spy, they mention something about how they think it's coming to PC.

It will almost guaranteed end up on PC, the question is when. I won't be surprised if its a year though as I have a hunch they'll try to port it to the PS4/XOne, and it will come out around this time next year for those. On the plus side, it might mean a better PC version as well, but we'll see.

I think this might be a barometer game, both on how easy it is to develop/port older games to the new consoles (or rather games that the primary target was the 360/PS3), and how much it will improve or not PC ports.

I think I'm just going to cave and get it for PS3 or XBox 360.

If it comes out on PC eventually I'll grab it on a Steam sale some day years from now, and maybe play it again at higher res.

But I don't think I want to wait that long, especially on a mere possibility, to play this game. It looks really good.

The only question is whether to get it for XBox or PS3. I'm debating.

LOL,a single gtx770 which came out this year in June can struggle with very high 1200p,i have found myself running medium for what you may call a merciful experience.

Medium 1200p and medium 1440x900 gives the same experience and yes i have actually tried both resolutions out of madness,screw Crysis when it comes to benchmarks this game is above and beyond the Call of BS.

Why would you want to play GTA with a mouse and keyboard? It makes the driving impossible.

In GTA4, yes the driving was awful with a keyboard. But the aiming is so castly superior with a mouse over a controller.

I don't think it was _that_ bad once you got used to it. It was pretty easy to win races, for example, or catch targets, or evade cops. And with the vastly superior aiming it's a no-brainer that the keyboard + mouse is a better GTAIV experience.

I am in the process of replaying GTA4 right now on PC and I had to use a controller for the driving (and anything using that uses the keys to aim: like pool...). The cars handle so bad, but I think that might be a keyboard issue because I have trouble doing stuff with the key aiming as well. I would "double" press with a single key stroke.

The controller helps the driving, but the physics themselves are still awful. But, once I get out of my car, I go back to KB / mouse.

While GTA IV certainly was not "optimized" for PC, I have seen worse, FAR WORSE ports for the PC. Seriously, GTA IV was and still is playable. Also with the two GTAs before I never had "major" issues seeing they were actually ports. ALL of them were good fun and run "pretty ok".
