Rockstar released a comment pertaining to the delayed release on the PC:

We're glad to see so many of you are excited for the upcoming release of the new versions of GTAV and we look forward to sharing more details with you soon. We are also incredibly excited to be bringing GTAV to the PC, but the game requires a little more development time in order to ensure that it is as amazing and polished as possible. Please do stay tuned as we reveal new features and information about all the new versions in the weeks ahead.

Source

Those two extra months better be worth the extra time to polish and optimize!

Wow isn't that nice, was looking forward to a fall release and it basically becomes a next year release. Good stuff.Talk about me being pissed off.

I heard it was about the same for the GTA4 release but honestly i had bought that game quite a bit after release so the only lessons of patience to be learned with RockStar are clearly gonna be from other people.

So is Rockstar typically always giving the shaft to the pc players? My f*** it meter is in the red.

Not just Rockstar it's industry wide. The weak underpowered consoles call all the shots which also means game development will stagnate on a technical level as soon as these consoles horsepower is tapped out (already is).

I noticed in the 360 GTA V the clouds have just a little bit of blocky areas or pixilation when you look up or even not all the way up. So I'm wondering if that will not be the case in the pc version. Don't get me wrong about GTA V as it exists now (360 for me), it has some great looking areas. But of course some not so crisp or clear looking areas like on the ground and in a few areas of the clouds.

Btw on a side note I've noticed some degree of blocky clouds in AC3 and Risen 3. To balance things out with something good I don't see any blocky or pixelated parts of clouds in Crysis 3. But the downside in Crysis 3 is the clouds don't change shape like they do in GTA V. Of course I hope in the pc GTA V the clouds will continue to change shape as they move across the sky. That's a very nice touch, reminds me of the nicely changing cloud shapes in Gothic 3.

It is pretty depressing to hear the market spin that was out there before these were launched that said they were better than "top end" PC's. Anyone who had a stitch of knowledge knew it wasn't true then, and it's blatantly obvious now that in 2 years time they will be dinosaurs.

You are asking questions no one can answer. Alot of things are getting improved in the next gen release, that much is known. Realtime effects like all the shaders are probably being redone. So there is a good chance the clouds will get higher resolution and more dynamic.

So can anyone take a guess on the type of media they will use to release this game? Like 4 DVDs or a Blu-ray disk?

I have a dual core e8600 and 8gb ram and an ATI 5770 video card. You think GTAV will run ok on that?

EDIT: Just found a site http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=1308&game=Grand Theft Auto V

That lets you input your specs and lets you know if it will run well or not. Seems like im good to go!

Don't expect to turn up any AI, traffic type settings. GTA4 took a dump all over dual cores when it came out. Sure we have i3s now, but I don't expect an e8600 to fair well with GTAV.

Not sure how the 5770 will do. Surely 1 GB VRAM will be the requirement, though I bet the game actually will do ok with it (but 2 GB optimal).

Its not 2007, so no. You need an i5 now minimum for sloppy AAA ports, along with 8GB RAM, and a GPU with 3GB vRAM preferably so 290/780 or above if you want turned up settings @ 1200p/1600p at a solid 50-60FPS.

I'm sure they'll probably release it on DVDs. It will be released on Steam as well.

Love the steam releases, the dvd version is probably gonna require steam and i wouldn't be surprised if you have to download the game anyways.

I managed to hold out this long and keep my celibacy for GTA V on PC, I can hold off playing it on friend's consoles for 2-3 more months.

Gut feeling says it will be a quality port like MP3. ~10 more weeks...

Seems its shorter than GTA IV which is irritating. That took around 35hrs+, this is around 25-30hrs.

As much as I want to throw money at my screen, I still have a sour taste in my mouth that was put there by GTA IV. I may have to wait for performance reviews and benchmarks before buying.

I don't want to pre-order the game only to find out that it runs like garbage on my PC just because I have an AMD processor. Nevermind the fact that this game cost ~$300 million to develop. Asking for proper multi-core support is still apparently too much these days.

Quality over quantity. I'd rather play a fun 25 hour game than a mediocre 35 hour one.

less missions that GTA4 but so much more to do. it looks like they are going all out, probably trying to cover all bases before they announce that mods will not be supported on PC, a good thing in my opinion, keeps the game legit especially for online play.

I hear that. I put 30 hours into 4 and was too uninspired to finish it. The complete lack of variety in the game space and character customization (when coming from SA) was just pitiful. And the fact it had some of the most obnoxious and unlikeable characters I've come across (I'm looking at you Roman and Brucie) didn't help either.

Not to mention the God awful social elements.
