Had a fortunate event today, in which I made $1,000; totally out of the blue, so I figured wth and bought GTA 5 for the 360.
Wish it was on PC, but I'm enjoying it. Spent over an hour just driving/flying/walking around, and when I looked at the map... I had barely uncovered a small portion of it. It really is 'huge'. Far larger than other GTA games. You see the city on the maps, but what you don't realize, is that you can drive around that small portion of the map for a good long time...
Graphics remind me of Rage, where some textures would be ultra-low and blurry, while others looked good. A 'lot' of pop in and strange artifacts, like seeing the top of a tree rendered 3 miles distant, but not it's trunk. Overall though, it is quite beautiful. Remember the strange GTA 4 shadows? Well that seems to be applied to everything now, so as you pan your view, everything becomes grainy and blurry, which makes it look like a frame rate drop. Getting used to it, but wish I could turn that off.
The little things make this game though. As I was splashing through a stream exploring, the bugs were out, and the ambient sound (great) made it feel almost real in a sense. Don't know if it deserves the 10/10 it's been getting, but so far so great.
