Well I agree that PC piracy is more rampant than console piracy but mostly because it's less complicated. I refuse to believe that under same circumstances, % of console gamers pirating games would be better vs. % of PC gamers pirating games. If anything, the average age of console gamers is lower than PC games and the buying power as well. In other words, piracy would be probably be just as rampant on the consoles, if not worse, if the piracy "skill set" required was same as for the PC/they weren't afraid of tinkering.
Anyway, did they really expect people not to see through it? The guys behind and on the petition didn't start it out of " piracy concern", that's completely bogus, the one and only reason for the petition is pure hatred for the PC.
Back on topic, I am glad GTA 5 is such a money maker. These astronomical figures should turn a few heads in the industry. What small and big studios alike need to do is stop cloning COD's and take a closer look at what established giants like RockStar and smaller startups like RSI (Star Citizen) have in common and how they approach making games. Maybe, just maybe they might start making better games.
