There is a helicopter mission, and flying the helicopter is truly awful. Planes are awful as well, but the helicopters are something you want to kill yourself.

I know this game made over a billion dollars, but it just wasn't that good GTA Online was exactly what you'd expect: a bunch of kids being twats. The story was simply not wonderful. And, the map, while vast, was empty. It didn't feel like an actual city.

Lol... the map in GTA5 by far the most impressive and life like location. GTA Online is great.

I agree that GTA Online was bad; actually, I would make the case that GTA Online is the worst game I've ever played, period. However, I disagree with everything else you said. The planes and helicopters are more prone to turbulence than in past GTAs, but they still are simple to fly. The story was great, as far as a GTA game goes, and the different areas actually feel like real places. It didn't top San Andreas in my personal list of the GTA series, but it's the second-best GTA game to date, and well worth the cost of admission.

Hopefully, the fact that the Xbone and PS4 have similar architectures to a PC means the PC port won't be as much of a resource hog as GTA IV was when it was first ported over. I imagine I'll pick this up and play through it yet again (which I'm sure the wife will be thrilled with).
The story would have been much better had the just focused on Franklin or Michael. Trevor, while humorous, had literally nothing of important to add other than "hey look! I'm the hillbilly again!" The switching gimmick got old quick. The best parts of the game (heists) were so few and far between. Why wouldn't the focus more on that? Those were awesome. Doing missions to prepare and then pulling a crazy job? Yes, please. But, nope. We get a few and then get to go do a ton of racing missions...

The city itself was also pretty bad. There are like 4 shops total in the entire game, just plopped in different locations. Plus, there is a gigantic empty mountain in the middle.

I mean, the game had it's moments, it is just that those moments showed such brilliance that the rest of the game felt bad.

I disagree about the inclusion of Trevor. I think he provided a nice foil to the attempted sanity of Michael and Franklin, when, realistically, most people play the game with a Trevor mindset. I mean, GTA IV gives us a protagonist who is interesting and conflicted and what have you... but the reality is that when you're running around stealing cars and running from the cops, you don't care about Nico's background at all; it's just, "YEAH, EAT NADE SUCKERS." The inclusion of Trevor felt like the designers answering the question "what if you took the character most people actually play as in GTA and dropped him into this world?" And it turns out to be hilarious.

I just started playing it a week or so ago, I must say I'm pretty impressed. I think it's the most detailed GTA to date. Personally GTA 3 will always be my favorite but still I think 5 holds up just as well as any of them.

Some of the missions are repetitive, but that's always been the case with these games. I do agree that while the city is huge and impressive, the fact that most of it is non-interactive detracts from it. However to actually make it all interactive would be a huge undertaking, pretty much impossible especially on 360.

I am very impressed with what they managed to do on the 360. I do sort of wonder why they didn't put it on PS3 too, like they did GTA 4. And GTA 3/VC/San Andreas were all PS2...I guess they just thought they'd get the biggest audience with 360 and only wanted to code for one console to maximize their optimization.

I would like to see how this game would look on PC or even XB1.

EDIT: lol I just now saw the announcement they will release on PS4/XB1/PC this Fall. Well darn now I wish I'd sorta waited...oh well! Good news. I'm looking forward more to the first GTA that is completely next-gen (current-gen now I guess)

Ummm... they did put it on PS3? I mean, if Amazon is to be believed... Also, I own it on PS3. Where did you get the idea that it wasn't on PS3?

This was built for last gen crap. There is only so much you can do to prettify it.

Modders did some incredible things with GTA IV; we'll probably see similar things with GTA V. And even if it's only an incremental upgrade over last-gen, the increase in draw distance and antialiasing/anisotropic filtering options will be a welcome addition.

Yeah! Obviously, all these "next gen games" and "PC only master race games" are so vastly different with their inclusion of higher resolution textures and further draw distances! There is no way that could be added to GTA5!

I just got it a couple weeks ago on 360. I'll wait to pick it up on PC on a $5 sale. My laptop probably wouldn't be able to even match the 360 visuals anyway.

I will buy this in 2-3 years just to play it again. I liked the PS3 version and while I wouldn't pay full price for the PC, it would be my preference if they release future DLC.

Actually if you look at the details of the graphics you can see that it was built with more powerful hardware in mind. Take for example the shadow LOD system. The hi-res shadows literally only draw in a 3ft radius around your character on 360. Certainly not an ideal system for a fixed platform and evidence that the game was developed on more powerful hardware and then considerably scaled back for 360.

"Increased draw distances, finer texture details, denser traffic, and enhanced resolutions..."

"with game world enhancements that include new wildlife, upgraded weather and damage effects, and an array of new details to discover..."

I knew this was going to happen eventually. Every GTA game after 2 was released on PC after the console version.

Yes, but them skipping the PC on RDR still aches our hearts. We were afraid to get hurt again!

Damn, sometimes i regret selling my PS3 - RDR was epic...:hmm:
