GTA V: PC Version

I wanted to build a new pc for this and a new fallout game but ive got a bad taste in my mouth still from the gta 4 pc version.

No doubt in my mind that with mods this game will be beautiful on pc but at least on ps4 i know what ill get and i can play with friends online. I ordered it digitally for ps4

Really? When I think of the potential for mods in an open world game, Skyrim comes to mind and just how much more awesome the community made the game.

Indeed! IMO one of the main reasons for getting a PC over a console is the possibilities for modding and customization. Skyrim was made a much better game with all the unofficial patches and UI mods. I'm not saying that will be the case for GTA V of course.

Still waiting for this freaking game, god i hope pc isn't locked to 30fps. They brag about pc going to 4k like they are the first ever to do it but there's no mention of 60fps or higher and that scares me.

They can't possibly lock to 30, or even 60 for that matter. Not after going out of their way to talk/spice up the PC version. That would make zero sense. Especially considering where the technology is today; G-sync, 120hz, ULMB and whatnot. Unless they deliberately and consciously want to make themselves look like complete and utter incompetent nitwits to the entire gaming world. Which would just be silly.

Yeah GTA4 early on pissed me off too, i went from a gtx280 to a gtx295 and saw no difference in fps nor were max settings used cause of the vram issue...years later and even at 768p maxed out i noticed my gtx770 was hitting over a 1gb vram. Still pretty much ran like dog crap at that low of a resolution unless i ran simply high settings whcih ran fine on the gtx280 years back....wtf right?

I've been trying to play GTA4 for the past day. Runs even worse now lol. I can't get my mouse to work at all. GFWL was giving me a shit fit. And my fps are complete crap now too even with way better gfx cards.

I remember playing this mostly maxed out years ago with a single GTX 580 and my fps were a pretty stable 60fps. This was the game that made me build a new computer in 2009, as dual core was just a joke with this game. I can't even get my fps above 56 right now...screw it. Hope GTA5 is better.

I ran it first on a dual core Opteron 175 @2.53Ghz and a stock 8800GTS and it ran like absolute garbage even on the lowest settings. Even my current 3570K and 7870 spat out less then spectacular framerates.

GFWL was giving me a shit fit.

Used to get the modified system error,i always hated even reinstalling this game cause all the issues GFWL would present.Well as stupid as it sounds simply disabling automatic updates for windows would present you with this error.

You could basically update everything GFWL live in a infinite loop and reinstall a trillion times but simply turning on automatic updates,even if it doesn't update a freaking thing which it never did and like magic a hassle free experience after that. The best part is immediately after it's installed you could just disable updates and be fine too......

Using an older dual core with GTA4 was suicide. The game uses a whole core just for Euphoria. I'm sure it wasn't until Sandy Bridge that a dual core CPU could really deliver the SIMD and general workload performance to handle the game decently.

I think the VRAM issue was not just an ease of porting issue, but one where Rockstar knew that they would have to do it to keep things running smoothly in a less dynamic PC computing environment where devs may not have an easy time moving data around from HDD to system memory to VRAM and vice versa. Devs on console last gen really had to finagle their memory usage and data transfer methods to suit a highly detailed, very open world game (especially on PS3). PC gives them alot of breathing room, and it's not surprising to see them take advantage of it. Also to be fair, the PC version of GTA4 also gives one the option for better graphics, and far more on screen AI driven entities, crowds, cars, etc.

Compared to GTA4, GTA5's framerate was pretty good, atleast on 360. Also the graphics were spectacular considering the 2005 hardware.

I just hope the controls in air vehicles, character movement behavior and control response won't be a trainwrech from the get go and also after patches, there's many things in GTA4 that make me so angry when I just either want to move, get in car, take cellphone out, sometimes buttons just don't register because some stupid animation or event didn't finish, etc.

GTA 4 for PC was horrible, could barely get it to play right without massive FPS hitches every 2 seconds or the game suddenly crashing. I enjoyed it a lot on my XB360.

Now I preordered the PS4 version, hopefully R* gets it right with the PC version.

i refuse to purchase another copy of gtav at least until the online heists has been released reviewed and patched up. I bet the pc version gets delayed into holiday season and they will throw in some extra clothing or other worthless stuff.

Why are so many of us gamers full of haters like you are, who feel that they are entitled to get whatever THEY expect? Who is forcing you to buy it that you have to _refuse_ it? If you don't like the new version just pass on it and don't buy it. TBH, i'd rather have it delayed than released on-time but unfinished (see AC).

That's easy, because if you don't buy it, you are labeled a pirate. Because in their minds there is NO reason anyone would not shell out all their money on every game that is released regardless of it's state, functionality, or just plain lack of fun.

No idea. It's why I don't call myself a "gamer" or associate myself with people who game in real life.
The amount of people who even as "casual gamers" I've seen cry about how GTA 5 is a rerelease and how they won't buy the game again "blah blah blah"is ridiculous.

I never even played GTA 5 on 360/ps3 and I'm sure a number of people didn't so this may be a first touch for a lot of people. Rockstar didn't say "Hey, buy the game TWICE GUYS!!!" they're just simply releasing a PS4/XboxOne/PC version now.

Is it late? CERTAINLY, but at least (we hope anyway) it's not AC Unity....

With gamers though, you never win. They always find something to whine about.

Hater?...I bought the game before release date and a year later i am still not even capable of doing(online heists) which was one the main selling points of the game. I could have died ten times over already. Its like buying a brand new car that is capable of going 200mph (main selling point) but a year passes and you can only do 130mph, except now its a new year and new prettier version of the car but still no 200mph.

There's a problem with that though. Nobody with any position in EA, Rockstar, Ubisoft etc etc is looking at Anandtech to see who is and is not buying a game. So you are just filling up the screen with words at that point. Which I guess is fine, but it doesn't do anything. Especially when so many times people claim to boycott something but then go and buy it anyway. There comes a time when it goes from making a point to just a bunch of clutter on a forum.

Not you specifically of course, just in general. If you don't want it or have something against it don't buy it. I doubt people on forums want to know your reasons for your choice.

What video card will I need to play it at 1920x1080 with high quality settings?

Running a Radeon HD 6870 1GB right now. I don't game on my PC except for GTA games, been holding out on the PS3 version because PC version would be better and you can shoot with a mouse.
