GTA4

Yeah I'm finally getting around to this game 4 years later. It took RDR and LA Noire to convince me to go back and give it a shot.

So I'm probably in the neighborhood of 5 or so hours in and have to ask... when does this game really get started? I understand the premise of being the new guy in town and trying to make your way but is there a point where you realize you're getting into something important? For example in RDR I knew what my goal was from the start. LA Noire provided something similar. Perhaps GTA games aren't really like that but I have to think for a game so highly rated there has to be an ultimate goal and that goal will eventually become evident?

Also, is traveling via taxi/train the most efficient way to get from A to B quickly?

Once you meet Dimitri Rasclov, you are in the main meat of the story.

Taxi/train is probably the most efficient way, but being a GTA player since 3, I still find myself driving everywhere.

I did think 4s story takes longer to get going than any of the past games.

Glad I posted this. I was ready to give up but got to the point where the story starts to pick up last night and now I'm hooked.

GTA4 is a top 10 game in my book. I played it on the PC. You should be traveling by car/motorcycle as that's the best way to experience the game. Keep us updated with how you're liking it. And say hi to Brucie for me!

I gave up after I had to read an email, go to some guys house, guy takes off in car, I am supposed to chase him. I always failed that mission. I stopped playing years ago, I dont even know how deep into the game I was at.

Still one of my favorite games, i just wish there was more "rising to the top" like Vice city.

GTA4 is also in my top 10. Great game...i've played through it twice now. Can't wait for GTA5 on NYE! Once you meet Dimitri it'll pick up.

i hated this game. i played for a few hours, couldn't catch that guy that was on top of the building, and said screw it. i've picked up every GTA game that came out and ended up hating them all. man, i hope i don't get suckered into getting 5.
