So basically the Titan Z is marketed for anyone who want to build a small workstation like the new mac pro except it cost more than the mac pro itself

Its only when we spend at least $1000 more for the Tahiti XT based D700s do we have something that could compete with a Titan Black; a Titan Z would crush that option.

I just looked around and you can't even find a Titan Black in stock for MSRP, or in stock at all, at the usual US e-tailers. Even EVGA direct is sold out of all 5 SKUs.

What are the odds that it is gamers buying them up, versus people looking for DP? Almost 0.

Seeing as I replace my GPUs annually (if its worth it), I cap my GPU's at $1K, maybe $1500 if its something special. $3K, no. That is just pointless with a capital P.

If that was their reason they would put some stupid open air cooler and clocked it @1100 MHz
But this is exactly what AMD will do if they make dual Hawaii.

$3000 is way too much. Unless form factor is a huge concern you'd be better off with dual Titan Blacks, and I can't see too many situations where a smaller form factor is worth an extra $1000.

nVidia's mainstream GPU have been their x50 and x60 series cards for many years now. Currently being the 750 and 760 based cards.

The x70 and x80 are their enthusiast line.

Should probably come with a T-shirt and hat that is exclusive to Titan Z purchase for the extra recognition that you "need" the Titan Z over 2 or even 3 Titan Blacks.

Anyone know what niche you'd want very dense CUDA racks and could trade away, for more CUDA per $ and less PCIe slots needed, the ECC and support of the Tesla/Quadro lines by getting Titan Zs?

I don't get the hate that this card is getting. It's 3000$, so it must be better than the miserable 780ti. It's for people with swag. Wake up, sheep!

But seriously? I could believe that they are preparing us for a grand April Fools joke. I can't believe they actually ask people to give 3000$ for a GPU. It could make me coffee and do the laundry for me. I still wouldn't give 3000$.

EDIT : Not to mention that someone who is willing to spend that much on a GPU for professional use probably won't be getting one of these.

Rendering farms already can pool K40s, and they would never use a consumer part to do so.

This is a halo gaming part, and would be questionable for workstation use, at best.

The majority of purchases (at least in the US) will be made by either .orgs or corporations. Even the individuals who technically purchase it, will most likely write it off on Schedule C.

A gamer who buys it deserves the ridicule, since anyone who looks into it would know that the extra 2k on top of Titan Black is not just for another GK110 + 6GB VRAM.

Not even close. The pool of people buying one to only play games will be extremely small.

There are several articles that came out today that referenced the fact that the majority of even Titan Black buyers aren't gamers, so it is a hard sell that something 3x the price will be any different.

Density and power consumption are not marketing fluff to people inside the compute world. Being slightly under-clocked, but getting two GK110s within PCI-Spec? Not for me, but for someone I am sure.

I have been known to make purchases with discretionary income that people whisper behind my back about...and I love computer hardware and gaming. I would be the target market for a $3k gaming card, and I wouldn't get within 10ft of this thing. 2x 780ti, or even the ASUS 760x2, would be my pick.
