Guys! Thanks a lot for the suggestions , they are really helpful! probably i'll be picking up the 1060 , and slowly i'll be upgrading my cpu/monitor when i have the budget.

Also i'll mention how the performance goes with my 15-2310 once i get my card

You guys are awesome! Much needed upgrade for me
Mmm... If you get the AIB 1060 is recomended to think to move to an i5 2400 or an Ivy Bridge series.

Later i'm thinking to upgrade to a far better cpu and mobo like i5-6500. so until i get the budget for that i'll continue with the i5-2310.

Hopefully the card should support my current mobo which is Digilite B75

For the budget friendly price the 470 wins for me now , but anyhow probably after 2-3 months i will be planning to upgrade my cpu and mobo as well , so iam thinking 1060 would be a better choice for the long run as it is faster than 470 and 480.

If the gtx 1060 fits with the i5 2310 without a huge bottleneck , i can survive with it until i get my cpu upgrade.
Considering the 470 is GCN4, it'll age very well against the 1060, also DX12/Vulkan will only make it better.
Anyway if you're willing to splurge go ahead, but if you can wait I'd say look for better deals around Diwali, even for the 1060 as you'll get them cheaper around that time.

the 560 is a lot more outdated for gaming than a sandy bridge i5 3GHz

I think the 1060 is reasonable even for this CPU, it has the superior DX11 efficiency from Nvidia and it works with the newer APIs
but yes, if you want to wait, maybe the 1050 or rx 470 will be better choices

Agreed, and this is coming from someone with an i5-2400, almost the same thing as yours.

The monumental leap in video card will make far more difference than a CPU would, plus if the CPU is bottleneck, you can increase certain video options that lean more on the video card than CPU power and get that extra visual goodness for "free"... sorta'.

Well Guys , i got my Gtx 1060 Zotac edition 15 days back and i have checked the progress , it bottlenecks a lot on more of Cpu bound games Ac Syndicate , Rise of Tomb raider etc etc

But runs Flawless on Gpu bound games , Rainbow Six Siege and Far Cry Primal. In the cpu intensive games i can't play at all because the CPU usage sits idle at 100% CPU USAGE , irrespective of my graphic quality. Either it might be Medium , high , Ultra , it bottlenecks a lot on cpu bound games.

Thank you for the replies

at what framerate the CPU is limiting performance? if it's to close to 30 I would consider using a 30FPS max lock, since the games were designed for that framerate on consoles anyway and at times the variation is far more annoying than a stable 30, you still get better graphics at least, also, on ROTR I think some settings like "level of detail" are mostly CPU bound, so you might want to play with that down a little bit, also did you try seeing if DX12 helps with it?

I have an i5 2320. From my experience, I would expect a lot of games to be cpu limited, but not unplayable, unless you insist on 50 or 60 FPS. I have not played many of the most recent titles, but managed to play Witcher 3 and DA:I at around 30 FPS with only 60 to 70% cpu usage.
