I want to upgrade my Gpu to 1060/Rx 480 , but i want to know if the gpu iam looking for bottlenecks my system specifications?

Intel Core i5- 2310 @ 2.90GHz
8.00GB
DIGILITE DL-B75M (LGA 1155 Socket)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1 GB
466GB Seagate ST3500418AS ATA Device (SATA)
Corsair CX 650
and a cabinet (Top Mounted PSU)

This is pretty much outdated specs as i know , but i could afford only the gpu but i wanted to know if it bottlenecks the cpu or even does that mobo support the gpu? if either 1060 / rx 480 support mine , well then i'll look forward for a gtx 970. Suggest me

It probably will depending on the game, you could OC for better performance or look at buying a used 3000 series or new mobo/proc.

But really, it all depends on what settings and what game. If you are budget limited, don't worry about it and just turn some settings down.

470 might be better deal

Budget Limited and i just want to play all the latest games at Medium/high 60 FPS @ 900p , because i got a 1600 x 900 monitor.

Also in that case the 1060 bottlenecks the cpu in the most cpu intensive games other than that it is okay?

@ 900p I'd recommend the 470 when it comes out, should be ~$150-160ish range from leaked info, while the 1060 is $250+ and 480 is $200-250, but hard to find the 4GB in stock.

the 560 is a lot more outdated for gaming than a sandy bridge i5 3GHz

I think the 1060 is reasonable even for this CPU, it has the superior DX11 efficiency from Nvidia and it works with the newer APIs
but yes, if you want to wait, maybe the 1050 or rx 470 will be better choices

Thanks a lot man! I'll be waiting for the 470 if it is that price. Also i see taking the gtx 1060 for 230$ isn't worth with my current specs as i won't be maxing out much since i play @900p while my cpu bottlenecks it

Yeah the witcher 3 hardly runs at 15-20 FPS @ Lowest setting with 900p which is very very bad for the current games on my gtx 560 ti. So decided to upgrade my gpu with some budget for now rather than changing the entire rig which i cant afford now

I would like wait for the 1060 to release , see the reviews and if the bottleneck is low for my i5 2310 cpu, maybe i'll purchase it and later change the cpu/mobo which would be a good combo for the 1060.

A 470 should definitely run the game fine at 900P. Even my old 7950 runs it quite well at 1080P with High settings.

A 1060 will be faster for sure, just have to decide if its worth the extra $125, as the Founders edition is $300, and it will be at least another month after initial release for after market models. And even then, its doubtful they will be sold for MSRP.

For the budget friendly price the 470 wins for me now , but anyhow probably after 2-3 months i will be planning to upgrade my cpu and mobo as well , so iam thinking 1060 would be a better choice for the long run as it is faster than 470 and 480.

If the gtx 1060 fits with the i5 2310 without a huge bottleneck , i can survive with it until i get my cpu upgrade.

You can overclock your i5 even though it isn't a K model. You just cant overclock it a lot. You can get a few hundred more mhz which will help though

Since the card and the performance benchmarks are out , can anyone suggest me that will it bottleneck with the i5-2310?

There won't be too much of a bottleneck on average, and the bottleneck will also vary from game to game. Some games will have no bottleneck; other games will have a small one.

There is no definitive, one-size-fits-all, answer to your question.

It's a good upgrade though. You should go for it. Unless you're willing to buy a used Geforce card, like a 970, you don't really have a better option.

Get the upcoming RX470, it'll be cheaper & (supposedly) more power efficient than the 480. When OCed it'll easily match the stock 480, besides the price of 480 over here is insane, the 1060 will be equally overpriced.

although old i5, it's still real 4 cores, and since you only want 60 fps it would easily achieve that with 1060

The GTX 1060 will be a massive massive upgrade from your curreng GPU and the i5 2310 won't bottleneck it so much that you don't get a 2x or 3x improvement over your current GTX 560.

It's a worthy upgrade for your machine!

that's a little strange, when I played witcher 3 with a 5850 OC it was hitting 30FPS a lot of the time, sure there were some bad spots, but I was not even on the lowest possible settings (it was something like mostly medium with textures low 1440x900), it was mostly or almost playable

in any case, a 1060 will fly on witcher 3, you are not going to get locked 60 but it shouldn't be to far even with your CPU.

another bonus is the support for lower overhead APIs, it should help with the not so fast but not so slow CPU on the games that support both DX11/OGL and DX12/Vulkan,

RX 470 4GB for $149. Should release next month. On paper specs it should have 85-90% of the performance of the $200-240 RX 480.

GTX1060 is only 6-10% faster than the RX 480 so it's never going to be as good of a deal for 900p as the $150 RX 470.

Your best bet is to wait for market prices of RX 470, RX 480 4GB and then see how these 2 cards stack up against the RX 480/GTX1060.

Right now if you can find it at MSRP, the RX 480 4GB is easily the best value. $50 extra for the 1060 hardly gets you even 10% more performance.

If you do upgrade your CPU, I'd consider a monitor upgrade too.

The only problem i wouldn't go for the AMD is , well the official price of rx 480 was 200$ USD where as in India it is 380$ (in all retail stores/online)

If the official price of 1060 is 250$ USD, In india it is 335$ (which is far better than RX 480 price)

I thought of waiting for the 470 , but comparing the price with the 480 it will be same price as of 1060 in India.

Guys! Thanks a lot for the suggestions , they are really helpful! probably i'll be picking up the 1060 , and slowly i'll be upgrading my cpu/monitor when i have the budget.

Also i'll mention how the performance goes with my 15-2310 once i get my card

You guys are awesome! Much needed upgrade for me

You had a better cpu probably also the 5850 oc outruns a 560 ti easily.
