I was kind of surprised no one else had made a thread for this yet, so I figured I may as well.

I'll update the first post with benchmarks and reviews throughout the day. A few sites don't have their reviews up yet, but I'll keep checking.

I've thrown together a table of FPS scores from some of the reviews I went through. This is for 1440p which is where I think most people considering a purchase would want to use it. If people have some other reviews with a lot of benchmarks I'll update the table later. Also let me know if I goofed up on entering anything. I tried to separate results for different graphics settings, but not every site benchmarks exactly the same or uses the same game area.

It's pretty damn close to GTX 1080.What's cheapest Price of GTX 1080 ?

Slots in pretty well between the 1070 and 1080. Seems very close to 1080 when bandwidth isn't as important, but sometimes it's closer to the 1070. Overall looks like closer to 1080.

Looks like a good card if the price is right, but once you get over $400 I imagine +/- $50 is less of an issue for most consumers, so I think the 1080 is the better buy still. But if you have a fixed budget this card does what it is supposed to: a power efficient competitor to the Vega 56 and cheaper/slower than a 1080.

To be fair, it really doesn't matter what excuse they use. They can blame mining, or say RAM and DRAM is facing "shortages" due to demand.

The manufacturers of these items are enjoying huge profits, and from an investor or ownership view, who could blame them? Now from a customer point of view, it really sucks paying significantly higher prices for various components over the past 12 months. I think they have sadly discovered enthusiasts might whine about the pricing, but they are still clicking the buy button at their favorite retailer.

True, I just think it is time, we stop letting them get away with the excuse that mining is the reason prices are high.

Hey look mining demand dried up just hours before the release of the 1070 ti.

It's too bad enthusiasts are such impulse buyers that will overpay to have it now.

If we stopped paying the overcharges, they would go away.

I, for one, have. If the trend of overpriced components continues I will be forced to give up PC gaming and switch to an xbox or playstation. Sad day if that happens.

OT: I think this is a great product placement right between the 1070 and the 1080. Glad to see the OC potential is there too.

Another way to think about it is 17 months ago the 1070 FE launched for $450 - the same price of 1070 Ti FE that's ~12% faster. 17 months for 12%.

It is puzzling to see aftermarket 1070 Ti sold out at $470-$500 and multiple aftermarket 1080 available for $10-$50 more than that. It must be a novelty thing.

This is the best way to look at it I think. This is just a supply/demand issue, miners are generally willing to pay more than gamers for some of the higher-end cards these days, serving to prop up prices.

As for me, I've had this 7970 for 5 years and it's time to upgrade, but I think I'll wait until bf to see if there are any decent deals out there.

The RX Vega 56 and 64 aren't even available in the market; the AIB's are yet to be available also, some 2 months into the launch of a GPU (Something at least for me is unheard off).

However, maybe AMD will up their game and at least make their GPU's available. I just don't understand their strategy.

It makes sense if GP104 is good enough right now where there's a lot of chips that only need to be cut by 5%, rather than 25%. It costs the exact same to make a 1070 Ti and a 1070; it's the same chip and same memory. This gets Nvidia more money for the same thing and it helps in the benchmark wars (56 was usually higher than 1070, now Ti is higher than 56).

Really strange card to release IMO. Worth buying over current 1070 prices but well within price range of the 1080. And the performance offers little incentive to not jump up to a 1080. And lets face it, if someone is considering dropping $450 on a card, another $50-100 is definitely not an issue.

The GDDR5 is definitely there as not to render the 1080 totally useless. Had they thrown 10/11GHz GDDR5X on, it would be goodbye 1080 sales.



Oh well, put a wrap on this gen Nv/AMD cards I say and tape out the next gen.

Some products hurt your competitor, more than they help you. This card kicks sand in AMDs face. They are tweaking AMDs nose and forcing them to drop prices, and AMD can't really retaliate because it costs MUCH more to build a Vega.

That is what I am most interested in. The Have the 1070ti/1080 to go after the Vega, and the old 1070 can drop down into a more affordable range.

Pretty much this. I'd get the 1070Ti over the Vega 56 if I was on the hunt for a new card.

I bought a 1070 2 months ago for $485 when I saw it come back into stock. Then I saw the prices go upto $525ish.

But here's my dilemma. I could do an evga step up for basically just shipping and handling or upgrade to 1080ti.

Pointless card... basically a new model just to look good on the shelves. Do we really need to have a card to fill every 8% performance gap? For a short period, 1070s were mid $300's and 1080's were $450. THAT was the time to buy. Now you may as well go all out and get a 1080TI.

I picked up a used 1080 for $415 a few months ago and it continues to look like a good deal... I would never buy a new card in this market right now.

19 months for $50 drop in price is clearly wrong. GTX1080 launch price was $599 and fe $699. If we take the $599, it is a drop of $170.

What if you're like me and you have a new game that your 7970 isn't good-enough for? I don't want to buy a 1080ti for a 5 year old rig on 2560x1440, either.

It's also a better value than either the 1070 or 1080 for new builds and for mining.
