We have MSI 1080 GAMING X for 830USD.

800+?! Why so much more expensive than say the 649 model posted by sam 618? Both of them are overclocked too. Anyway, still waiting for 599 models over here.

EDIT: So basically, do the 1080FE and nonFE ref designs have problems OCing or not? Will all the 8-pin models have problem OCing?

MSI Gaming X is around the 699$ here in DK. I haven't seen a single card costing more than around the 699$. And lowest seems to match the 599$ area.

I think 800+ price is in Czech republic.. Outside US prices are very high. FE edition in Australia is equivalent to $800usd. About 900 in India. More than 1100 in Brazil since right now only imported units are available.

If AIB custom cards aren't close to $599, then disappointment is going to set in. I know early on it's typical for AIB's and retailers to gouge (at least a little bit), but if there are decent two-fan 1080's for $619, then that really just sucks.

I think it will be same with 1070..Decent cards with custom PCB will cost 500USD or even more like MSI 1070 GAMING X should cost 580USD here in EU(+130USD MSRP just like 1080)
Those prices are really crazy 1070 will cost almost as GTX980TI.
From 320usd(970) to 500+(1070)
Almost double price..
No1 will buy it for that price

I thought MSRP for non-FE cards are sub 600... like 579? these are just 50 bucks difference from the FE edition... I was planning on picking one of these up, then sell it for big pascal when that comes out... not looking for these crazy uberclocked editions... just the standard ones...

Paying VAT is normal in the EU. Even with 25% VAT in Denmark the cards sold like crazy. If you live in a high VAT country in the EU you can buy from one with a lower VAT. Since its legal in the EU that way if you can save something worthwhile.

The MSI 1080 Gaming X is ~699$ without VAT. Its hard to tell the exact due to new and higher retailer prices until it settles. A MSI gaming X 1070 would equally be around 449$. Or sub 500$ for sure.

What an interesting day.

This is the card for me:

Now for EVGA to release it.

Glad they aren't using a ref PCB like they did with the Hybrid 980/980 Ti/Titan X.

:sneaky:
I also sold my founder's card for ~$300 profits.
:sneaky:

Guy offered me $1,050 and I said why not. Gave him my card and receipt.

Today was a good day

So far I am not seeing any good 1080 with proper 6+8-pin or 2x 8-pin with more than 5+1 power phases for even $649. Might as well call this a $670-700 card minimum. My fear is that good 1070s will be $450+ as well. If by mid-July there isn't 1 good $599 1080 and 1 good $379 1070, might as well call those bottom prices paper spec. This is probably a big reason AMD is waiting not the sidelines before releasing P10. If the cheapest good 1080 is $450, P10 can cost $299 and still be 50% cheaper!

Thanks! Would any posters here know whether or not evga uses premium waterblocks for their hydrocopper series? If not I will need to find a good pcb version of the card that I'll use with an evga or heatkiller block etc...

the hybrid card uses an asatek cooler, but their hydro copper cards use EK blocks.

I want that card too. But wtf is going on with the propeller instead of blower fan? Does this mean, i cant now put another card right underneath this one? If i cant, there goes my plan for 2 cards...

the fan is just for vrm and ram cooling. that type of fan is probably better for getting air to more components because it is less directional than the blower style fan.

I'm not buying right now anyways, but we'll see. Lets get to June 6th or whenever the AIB custo cards roll out and see where things stand.

Good news if true:

"The ASUS ROG STRIX will be available in two variants, a stock clocked variant that will be priced at $619.99 US and a factory overclocked variant that will be priced at $639.99 US."
http://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-custom-model-round-up/

The Strix OC has 1936 boost. Still, think about it, if a good 1080 is $619-639+, it's becoming highly doubtful that 1080Ti will be $649 or even $699 like 980Ti/780Ti were. Prices continue to increase. What's ironic is that we are now half-way into the PS4/XB1 generation. Remember the 2nd half of Xbox 360/PS3 gen? Towards the end of the generation high end PC hardware is held back by outdated games/engines which cater to ancient and weak consoles. Come 2018 with Volta and we should have a $400 4K GPU, meaning for 90%+ of PC gamers on 1440p and below a $300 card will max almost everything.

Smart move.

I wish I had done the same. I like that card, that's the one I posted about in the other thread as well as the FTW card.

Looks like someone founded your new EVGA card!

I've been wishing they drop making reference cards completely and let AIBs handle it all.

With the $100 markup for a far worse product, it seems we really should just let AIBs handle everything. Nvidia has added no value with the Founder's Edition card at $700.

no value for the consumer that is. The tax is sure tasty to nvidia.
