As an previous owner of a GTX 1080 FTW Hybrid and a current owner of a RTX 2060 FE. I'm not disappointed with the 2060. I too have a 32" 1440p 144Hz (Gsync) monitor and the 2060 it’s enough for me now. Of course, I’m not expecting it to produce 144 FPS in every game that I play. FarCry New Dawn maxed out at 1440p averages 72 FPS, which is fine by me. Metro Exodus is a bit of a mixed bag. Ultra settings, No tessellation, RTX (High) DLSS enabled – I get anywhere between 40-70 FPS (AVG in the 50's) (Summer map included). To me it’s certainly playable, but to some it may not be. I could always drop the settings a little bit for better performance.
With a quick and dirty OC, you’re right on the heels on the RTX 2070 in a lot of titles. My card does 2GHz and +1000MHz on the memory without issue. Will the 6GB of VRAM be an issue at 1440p in the future? Perhaps, but right now it’s a non-issue. I’m also interested to see if Turing’s concurrent FP32/INT32 execution ability will widen the gap vs. Pascal in future titles?
For me personally, I’m not spending 800 or 1200 USD on a video card. The 2060 is $350, and I can still use RTX features with some sacrifices at 1440p, DLSS being one of them. I will say, with the latest Metro Update, DLSS IQ has improved drastically. It looks much better, and yes, even better then dropping the resolution scale to .8. Can’t speak to BF5 and Anthem DLSS IQ.
If I had to choose between the two today, i'd pick the 2060 every time.
These are just my thoughts on this card with a similar monitor to yours. Also, I don’t know about you, but I’m also looking forward to playing a Ray Traced version of Quake 2
