Kinda glad I have waited soo long to upgrade my machine. I think waiting untill the directx 11 cards are out should be the best choice for myself and many others.

Wondering what the comfort range is for this card?
It idles around 60c and sits between 75 and 78 under load in games. Decent airflow in case with GPU fan on auto. These temps seem okay for this card or should I look into upping fan speed?

Why is that? What did you accomplished by doing this? Games played at low settings all the time, is a good thing?

One thing might be related to downclocking. The drivers I'm using have issues with downclocking so when 'idle' (ie. on desktop) my card stays at max clock which probably explains the idle temps a bit.
Does the same on mine, I think it's due to the driver recognizing it as 3D.Originally posted by: spyblog
Hmm, I just read something and tried it out for myself. I think STEAM is being read as a 3D app and prevents downclocking. My GPU was idling at 50 all morning (4 hours) as I hadn't played any games since booting up, but a few minutes ago I loaded up Steam to check something and noticed my temps immediately began to climb. Once I hit 55 I closed Steam and it has been slowly declining over the past few minutes and is at 51 right now.
Not sure if this is common knowledge. Regardless, does anyone know of a way to somehow edit settings to remove Steam as a 3D app?
