Hi

I bought an Asus ENGTX460 768MB Top ( Upgraded from 8600GTS....) 2 days ego and now iam diseperatly doubting my purchase after a freind's comment that i should had bought the 1gb intead or a ati 6850 which performs better. After reading a couple of reviews iam still confused.

I play games at 1600x1050 ( 22'' monitor) . I prefer not to lower the seeting and keep them at maximum level exept the AA depending on games(2 AA is ok for me). I bought the video card for 169$ canadiens. I prefer staying below 200$ or not much more. The ati Hd6850 is at 190$ and GTX 460 1GB is at 209$ in my region.

I deseperatly need an advise .Considering my specs (i know that the gxt 460 1gb and ati 6850 are better)do you think the Asus ENGTX460 768MB overcloked is enough for 1600x1050 (IAm not planing chaging my monotor) or i should return it and get the gtx 460 1GB - ati 6850. Iam a big fan of Total War series and the Shogun 2 is about to come. I also planing to play Starcraft 2, Battle field :Bad company 2, dead space 2, well all sorts of games that are already out and the games to come this year.

My spec
CPU: Dual Core 2.13 (Overcloked to 2.6GHZ)
3GB RAM
Windows 7 32

Playing at 1600x1050 is ideal for the 768mb version.

That card is perfect for your resolution and cpu. Since you don't push the AA too much , it will last you a while, no worries.

Good purchase. I would not upgrade again until you can overhaul the entire system.

your friend is a noob, and you should go look at reviews. At 1900x1080 the difference between the 768 and 1gig is almost nothing. Above that there is a difference.

Bump that cpu up to around 3.4Ghz and you should be fine. The card is making tracks from underneath your cpu at the moment. Btw the 1gb EVGA SOC version went for 179usd on newegg. Still is selling at that price

reviews use a high end i7 cpu so the results you see are not what you should expect in most real world cases with your older Core 2 cpu. really there is not much point in getting anything faster than a gtx460 768mb at 1680x1050 with your cpu. even at 2.6 you are not going to get the most of what even that gtx460 768mb can do in many games.

I've got the exact same card and i love it. I use a 32" LCD Tv as my monitor so my max resolution is only 1366x768 so i can run any game at maximum details and it looks great.
