Seero you mean this?

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/foru.../30999-nvidia-geforce-gtx-470-sli-review.html

470 SLI seems consistently faster than 5970, and often trades blows with 5870 Crossfire.
Look through the whole review and also look at the minimum framerates.

There are other reviews for this. I'll find them and post em up.

470 SLI
Draws much more power than 5970
Generates more heat than 5970
Has more performance than 5970
Has PhysX
Superior Tesselation power over 5970 (Supposed to be big in coming titles as well as a few out already)

goddamn the 470 SLI looks mighty tempting if you dont list up the features 5970 has. well done sir!

I only bring this post up because of Seeros comment. And it might not even be what he intended.

I have listed all the features. All you need to do is read through the whole thread and not just pick out a single post out of context. You can do it. I have faith in you.

Is that at me or at MrK6? I ve spesifically quoted that post in response to Seero.

I dont see much point in again and again pointing out "missing" information in your or anybody elses posts. But you, me and others who know, owe it to the "green" guys to point them out regardless.

If it was at me: no you didnt list all the features or the negatives of either/neither (english is not my native language, which should it be here?) card

It's a perfectly valid argument. I bought my two 5870s in September

Where in the OP does it say he is going to time travel back six months and make his purchase?

Of course it can be preferable to keep parroting one review site's results again and again because they differ from the majority.

Consolidated results of all the web sites show the 470 is closer to the 5870 then the 5850. You can try and find one review that says the 5850 is equal to the 470 in terms of performance, I haven't seen a single one yet.

Nvidia needs to catch up, right now they're six months behind.

nVidia and ATi have mutliple engineering teams. The follow up to the 470/480 was handled by a different team, they don't have to stop working if one part doesn't ship when people think it is going to.

goddamn the 470 SLI looks mighty tempting if you dont list up the features 5970 has. well done sir!

When you talk about either 5850CF or 5870CF there are some compelling benefits versus the 470SLI setup(price point is a major one for 5850CF, performance for 5870) but when talking about the 5970 I don't see when they are the same price point. Perhaps if you have a mobo that doesn't support SLI?

Thank you for quoting me.

What is my intension in your opinion?

Thanks again for mentioning my name.

Keys didn't list all of the facts, but at least he listed something. Mk6 jump in this thread and claimed that OC 2 5850 to 1 Ghz = ownage without knowing, or deliberately hiding the fact that a) not all 5850 can OC up to 1Ghz, b) the heat generated will be much higher than 470 SLI, c) eats up a lot of electricity, and d) 470 can also be OCed too.

The quote you made on Keys did showed advantages on 5970. It is cooler and uses less electricity. What exactly are you trying to say? Are you trying to tell people that Fermi cards will turn your office into a sauna? If so, than you are dump as the extra heat produced can hardly increase room temperature by 1 degree. It really doesn't need a doctor's degree to know that. As I have told Mk6 before, but this time to you, that a light bulb worth of heat don't warm up your office, so you can forget about a free sauna. However, it is possible to turn your office into a gaming, non-productive place.

What I am saying is, don't try to make a mountain out of mole hill.

You're wrong on all accounts. Why do you post if you have no idea what you're talking about? I posted about 5850 CF because it's a better deal than either GTX 470 SLI or a 5970, barring extreme/specific circumstances. If the OP already bought a GTX 480, that's fine, but it gives an alternative to consider for others reading this thread for information. Anyway, A) Almost all 5850's overclock to 1GHz, and the few that don't come close. It doesn't matter if it hits 1GHz anyway, it isn't like extra shaders magically unlock at 1GHz. If you can only get your 5850 to 980MHz, that last 2% really doesn't matter as it's still going to be tons faster than a GTX 470. B) Nope, not at all, do your research. http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/gpu-power-consumption-2010_4.html#sect0 . You'll notice that even at 975MHz, the power consumption of that 5850 is still well below the 225W TDP of the GTX 470 (which is an undershoot of an estimate as it is). The 1GHz number isn't realistic, as they boosted the voltage to 1.35V (one doesn't need 0.15V to get that extra 25MHz). C)The GTX 470's can't be overclocked to anywhere near this level (5850's can get close to a 40% overclock). From reviews and what users have posted, they generally top out at 700MHz (15%). As I have shown, a GTX 470 at stock trades blows with a 5850 at stock (although I'd say the 470 is probably 5-10% faster overall), when the GTX 470 overclocks to anywhere near these levels, then it might be competitive.

And as I said before, you need a basic education in physics. Congrats, you know that a watt is a unit of energy conversion, now only if you could apply it correctly. Do you ever just walk up to a 100W lightbulb that's been on for 20 minutes and cup your hand around it? No? Why? Because it's really hot, that's why. How much hotter do you think it is inside the glass of the lightbulb? The light bulb creates an extremely hot pocket of air that radiates heat (well, heat spreads via several other methods too, but that's besides the point) in a gradient around itself, so yes, you don't feel the heat at a decent distance, but that doesn't mean the heat isn't there. Considering GTX 470 SLI will dump up to 240W of heat extra (http://www.hardocp.com/article/2010/03/26/nvidia_fermi_gtx_470_480_sli_review/7) in a room over a 5850 CF setup, yes, it's a substantial difference. If you can't understand that, then you need to learn more physics, as it's a relatively simple concept.

Nope Seero, if you did read my post, and ill go ahead and quote myself to make it easier for you,

no you didnt list all the features or the negatives of either/neither (english is not my native language, which should it be here?) card

eyefinity is missing
5970 being a huuuge card is missing
Cuda is missing..lol?

So why didnt Keys mention Cuda and yet he did mention Phycx, and just look at BF2, or better yet, play it. It has physics and doesnt need phycx to do it.

And somehow would think a SLI setup would make more noise than a one card setup, but you can take this as an opinion, im allowed one right!

@ Benskywalker

I didnt even "try", its provided by one of the most original testsites out there.

Dude a 5970 really screams its way faster (apart from when rendering mind bogglingly over tessellated 3d) and easily (to quote Anand ATI said pretty much as far as legal would let them) clocks core to 5870 speeds, memory tends to stop around 1200 mhz but it will generally destroy a 480.
Mine is at 920/1200 and rock solid
