I really didn't expect that. Why on earth are they going back to using suffixes, I thought we were past that.

Because there are gonna release 3 versions of the same model?
remember this?
ti4200
ti4400
ti4600
ti4800

gtx560 titanium
gtx560 gold
gtx560 se,

Who knows how they'll brand it this time.

I really don't buy that 2GB story at all, lil' over a week left 'till release so we will know for sure. If I'm wrong however,

GTX 560 Ti 2GB
GTX 560 1GB
GTX 560 SE 1GB

I don't really think that they will change anything on GTX 570/580, there is enough features/performance already to differentiate with future products (GTX 560), and I don't think nVIDIA will shoot themselves in the leg again like with the GTX 465. It's all about the price now.

There is allready a gtx580 3gb in the works. Confirmed by the company.
There was 3 , 2gb gtx460 made.
I don't see any reason why we won't see a 2gb version of the gtx560, I would bet it will release a few weeks later though.

Companies like Palit and Galaxy will make these cards happen.

I meant on reference cards that will surely first hit the market. But if by "company" you were reffering to nVIDIA then maybe we will see 2GB refference cards from the very start.

I thought from all the other threads about memory sizes, that the majority of people believed that 2 GIG of memory on a card didn't matter for anything except Eyefinity/3D Surround.

But...But....2 GIG of memory doesn't matter right now. 1 GIG is plenty. Now all of a sudden, it matters because NV is doing it.

And before anyone calls me a "fan" of being one sided "again" .... I think I should say that I just ordered a EVGA GTX580 for a 2500K build.

I just love when extra money falls in my lap.

EDIT: Also, before someone says...you should go with 2 x 560's in a week or so. Well, No. Because I don't want 560's. I wanted a 580.

EDIT 2: Just a thought I had. If the 560's are priced right, and I can get two of them for the price of a single 580, Ill return the 580 and go with two of them probably. Reason is...would make for very nice test bench system. The motherboard I chose is the UD4. So I could run the 6870 Crossfire or the 560 SLI on the same PC and compare.

The next ten post will be full of baiters saying thats too much.:whiste:
We all know thats the price gouging initial price.

Provantage is usually a tad higher then newegg. I can see the 560 hitting the egg for 249.99

Yes, thats a fair statement.
I'm thinking $239.99 but the first week with a new card? yea 250$ seems right.
Now about the gtx560 2gb price? $279 seems right on target.
These prices are showing where the performance will be IMHO.
It will be around 6950/5870 performance.
A few more days and we will get most of the answers.

It matters for 2500x1600, and surround sli users but not me.

And please ,take the hook in my mouth, it hurts .

Don't play that with me. Why do you try to bait people, then tell them they are the ones baiting ?

I put no hook in your mouth. There is no room in there, since that foot has been in there for almost 4 months now.

And before you say it....Back on topic please. And yes, right now 2 GIG matters to me as well. At least in the 2500K build it will. I may just sell the two 6870's and go with a single 6970 vs. the 580.

Choices....6870 Crossfire vs. SLI 560's ?
6970 vs. 580 ?

I believe it will be priced where it is supposed to be and most likely sell very well. I have a hunch a lot of mainstream gamers were waiting for this GPU.

You are totally right, in the mainstream market is where the money is as low end market is all about market share and the HD 6870/HD6850 has been out for a while and nVidia needs a refresh to stay competitive. (The GTX 460 isn't doing that bad but it is starting to age)

Definitively it makes sense for Surround as the 1.5GB and less sized VRAM's are hurting it in terms of performance. And by the way that last sentence was way out off topic, please stay on topic

For higher resolutions, the HD 6970 is a more sensible option for the sake of longetivity thanks to its steady performance as load increases, bigger VRAMs and if you plan to keep the card for a while, if not, the GTX 580 is a better choice. HD 6870 CF vs GTX 560 SLI? Better wait and see.

I already have the 2 6870's. And ordered a 580 EVGA a few hours ago. What im wondering is, whether to keep the 2 6870's, and cancel the 580 in favor of 2 560's. Or...Keep the 580, sell the 2 6870's and go with a 6970.

Two rigs, one SLI and one Crossfire. UD5 for Crossfire, and the UD4 for SLI.

So it's not which setup is better, its more of which would be more fun to benchmark and compare.

You lucky devil

Here are my choices.....

Test 1

Gigabyte UD4
GTX 560 SLI
Intel 2500K
4 GIG G.Skill

or....

Gigabyte UD4
GTX 580
Intel 2500K
4 GIG G.Skill

Test 2

Gigabyte UD4
Crossfire 6870
Intel 2500K
4 GIG G.Skill

or....

Gigabyte UD4
XFX 6970
Intel 2500K
4 GIG G.Skill

Which ever would have the better benches, would stay with the Intel 2500K. And the other card/cards would go to the AMD UD5.

6950 1gb vs gtx560 1gb in sli/xfire would be more fun.

I don't know. I already have the 6870's. And they seem to beat 460 SLI pretty good.

Seems the 560 may be a hair faster than the 5870 or so. But.....6870 Crossfire scales alot better than 5870 Crossfire. It could be about equal almost I think.

$250 might be too steep for mainstream to be honest. I would certainly make me think twice.

You'll probably just need to wait and see how it performs before saying something like that. I just said that I "guess" it will be priced where it is supposed to be. Oh, and you could probably chalk it under the "Mainstream/Performance" segment. Perhaps this part is a bit of a cut above "mainstream" as I put it before. We'll see soon enough.
