I evaluated 6950, 560ti, and 560ti 448 a month ago and grabbed a couple MSI 560ti 448 cards for SLI. 2GB versions of the former offer more memory; but as Nirtro pointed out, 1280GB works the majority of the time. To point to one game's memory requirements at full bore is silly.

Regarding "failed" gpus, it's another case of harvesting, that's all. I like the prospect of a perfect gpu, but as long as it works and is priced right, who cares. My concerns were diminished after seeing every reviewer was able to OC 560ti 448 quite nicely with default voltage. And with those oc's, 570/580 performance was within reach.

That's a good point. I guess I'm looking at what will allow turning on all the maximum settings in the future and not worried about frame rate so that's why I'm worried about frame buffer size and not about shader processing power/fill rate.

A 30fps average is fine with me in most cases.

Well, I have the GTX 560 ti hawk 1 GB overclocked at 1000core ~gtx 570 reference levels. It's a decent card but the memory is/will be even more in the future, a limitation. I don't play enough games to care about others then BF3, but when you turn on the AA the frames drop considerably. The memory is full at 1680x1050 without AA, so I can't even imagine 1920x1080, much less with AA. Without AA the frames are high and the worst nvidia bugs seem to be gone in the newer beta drivers. So imo, the 560 ti 1 GB is decent, but not future proof. The 1.25 GB is only slightly better future proofed, but if you are able to overclock well at low voltage it might be pretty decent.

The point trying to be made is the gtx 560 ti 448 should not be bought to "unlock" like the 6950 commonly is. It also will run out of stock at some point (when I don't know) so buy 2 now if you want to go SLI, you won't be able to when they run out of the current stock.
