http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=346kD87ZpK8
Because i have build a new gamer rig with :
i7 950 @ 4GHZ
Asus Rampage III Extreme
6 GB Corsair Dominator GT PC16000
Crossfire Sapphire 6950
Cooler Master Silent Pro M 1000W
OCZ Vertex 2 Series 60 GO
An guest what that video is mine ! It's drive me nuts about a week ! I have done like Sentry2 a fresh instal of Seven and Game, and the trouble still here, I don't know what to do , if my graphic card are damaged , if i have to rma the crossfire...
And a friend who have same trouble like me just fund your topic !
So just want to know, my 6950 are fine ? Your Sli of 580 are fine too ? or our both crossfire/sli are dead ?
Thanks for reply
i also noticed this the other day while playing Bad Company 2 Vietnam.
(i'm using 2 GTX460 1gig cards in SLI ...happens with and without sli. they are MSI hawk talon attack cards and come clocked at 810mhz core. i did not overclock them at all, and my cpu is an I5 760 which is running at stock speeds with turbo mode enabled.)
since you posted a video of it happening in Crysis i decided to check out Crysis Warhead and low and behold, it happens there too. i get the little while flashes when looking off into the distance at trees, etc.
they seem to appear only as little white flashes in Crysis Warhead, but in Bad Company 2 Vietnam, they can appear as random black dots or white.
its very subtle too. i don't think its really as pronounced as in your video of Bad Company 2, but its something similar. at first you kinda don't even recognize it and when i did start to notice, i initially thought it was maybe a leaf or something blowing towards the screen (talking about bad company 2 vietnam). i don't think its a normal graphic effect, tho ...and it only seems to happen on certain levels ...Vantage Point being the common one.
i don't think i ever saw it happen in the regular Bad Company 2 multiplayer ...just in the Vietnam addon.
i've only noticed it in those two games.
i ran 3d Mark Vantage and that was fine ...ran 3d Mark 11 and that was fine. Lost Planet 2 benchmarks were fine. Mafia 2 benchmarks and gameplay were fine (with and without physx). Call of Duty Black Ops is fine ...etc. so it leads me to believe that its an issue with the rendering of the engines in those specific games.
when i drop the Anti Aliasing from 8xmulti sample, down to 1x in bad company 2 Vietnam ...it seems to make the little flashes stop. i turn off AA in crysis warhead and it appears to stop then, too.
i can run 16x AA or higher in Black Ops and that seems to be fine tho. so i don't think its the cards overheating.
i check the temps on the cards with GPUZ and the first card doesn't seem to go any higher than say 50c during gameplay ...the 2nd card seems to stay around 38c i think? i can't remember exactly ...but i don't think i've seen them go any higher than even 50c when the flashing is occuring.
must be a directx issue with those games, since there's reports of it occuring with ATI (AMD) cards and nvidia.
hopefully it gets fixed.
(just to note ...my power supply is an Antec Truepower New 750w Blue ...which is SLI certified up to 2 GTX470 cards according to SLi Zone.)
edit: here's another link with someone describing it ...

edit again:
i tried each card separately using crysis warhead as the testing platform ...each card displayed the odd little flash here and there. it seems to occur most often at night while looking at trees/mountains off in the distance. seems to be brought on by leaves falling and smoke/fire particles moving. i'll get the odd little random flash on the screen. its small and never occurs in the same spot. when night turns to day it doesn't seem to happen as much, if at all. its almost like they are fireflies. doesn't happen in buildings from what i've seen and either not at all/ so little that i don't notice during the day time. its pretty strange.
i ran that Heaven benchmark in 1080p with max settings/extreme tessellation, 8x aa, 16x af, etc ...let that loop 5 or 6 times and everything was fine there. gpu temp on my first card never went higher than 55c and 45c on my second card.
i dunno ...this is weird. gonna try bad company2 vietnam again and see what happens. probably the same crap tho.
edit once again: i found this post on the crysis forums ...

he explains the exact same thing. even posts a youtube video of the little spots. same issue i have and he tested a few different cards along with saying his friend had the same issue. he says it occurs in DX10 but not in DX9.
i'd say our hardware is fine. the game has a couple issues with DX10 apparently. no worries.
