$1,800? thats not bad for that kind of performance and monitor.

When i was building this rig i was leaning towards an X6 setup but wanted to try something different so i went with a 32nm Quad

nice! really nice!, does it run cool? under 65c?

Problem with these westmeres is that they need a lot of voltage to reach 4.2. At 4Ghz and 1.1v and an H70 with upgraded fans it would barely break 60C, At 4.2ghz and 1.3v it goes into the 70C's under IBT.

Man, what great prices from both camps for sli/crossfire. So cheap to keep up with the best

he was probably looking to upg and was just not happy with the launch prices... but impulse won him over and he went for it.

He was comparing a 580 and 460SLI, how did he move all the way up to 580SLI? Got a raise in the few hours after he started the thread?

Not knocking you're choice in anyway OP, just curious thats all.

Thats not the point I was trying to make. Its seems like he was going to buy the 580s anyway.

Really now, if I had the money thats what I'd buy. Why not?

He wanted the fastest/futureproof setup money can buy and bought it.

Still not the point I was making. If he was willing to put down 1.1k for 2 580s why was he comparing it to 460SLI?

That would probably be a gf...

Who dumped him and now he can spend all his cash on video cards?

I remember when this thread had a topic.
But at least this time it's not an AMD vs NV tangent!

If you had $1800, you would spend it all on videocards and a monitor?

Yes ,with his cpu and motherboard , but since I have a crossfire board and a q9550 (cpu bottleneck), i'd buy 2 5850's for under 400$ and one of those 24 inch widescreen Sony crt's and a large SSD drive or 2.
