yes Nvidia NDAs usually lift at 9 AM.

I thought they were both being released tomorrow seeing as many stores have had the 670 in stock for week now. although it would seem odd to release both cards on the same exact day which would be a lot of work for reviewers.

I'm interested in how the HD 7950 does comparing to it, since I am considering these two.

HD 7950 is for people who simply can't afford to spend $100 more for whatever reason, and we should all respect that.

Or for people who realize it's only 5% slower clock-for-clock than the 7970. Its power consumption is much, much lower as well.

He said clock-for-clock, that means if the 7950 was running at 7970 speeds it would only be bout 5% slower.

What those reviews show is stock-vs-stock, very different.

Perhaps you need to read carefully before replying insulting people. Clock-for-clock means at the same clock speed (for example, both at 950MHz).

Ah yes. I agree with you as well. It seems AMD is intentionally underclocking the 7950 to make it look 20% worse than the 7970. They do the same thing with the 7850 vs the 7870 and the clock-for-clock difference is 5% there as well.

If Nvidia is truly having yield problems then they'll probably have a lot of chips to harvest. This could be a great overclocking part. I have been buying at the top of a range of cards, but I think the better value is certainly in the card that is a step down. Overclocked 7950's are very near 7970's, I wouldn't be shocked if the 670 doesn't have to sweat too much to reach 680 levels of performance.
