that 3770k is going to do little over your 3570k except for a few benchmark programs for gaming (mainly 3DMARK11)

What happened to the X79 rig you switched back too?

I'd love to go 6 core but its just not feasible for me.

The RIVE I bought started dropping memory channels so I returned it to newegg. I was contemplating dropping coin on an es 2687w on ebay for 600 but I might be bottlenecked withdrawal only 3.1ghz clock speed.

I have potential builds running through my head. Just can't decide what to do.

I just got a P8z77 premium D: I'm wondering if I should have gotten SB-e instead.

Gaming performance wise there really isn't any difference I don't think between 3770k and 3930k, and the z77 premium has some pretty awesome features - I can use a thunderbolt display with a MBP.

I may have made a stupid decision though we'll see.

whats wrong with the 2600k?

I'd love to go x79 for the 6 core, but its a major want, so I've held off and will continue to unless some huge deal ever happens... which it won't, so Im skipping this gen of CPUs.

IB is just not worth the time to upgrade for me. I like being at 4.5 on a $20 cooler for the cost of 5-10% in performance compared to the 3570k, and I'd see no real performance gains unless benching for it.



I'll probably go Haswell once that arrives. This will be the longest time between CPU upgrades I've ever had. I'm also running the lowest end GPU I've had price wise in at least 7 years, and I still remain happy with it.

LOL gtx670 sli for almost all games is overkill at 1080p but when i disabled sli to see how BF3 would run on a single gtx670 as i thought about selling one of them,the only way to sustain 65fps as a bare minimum is to run high 1080p with 2x msaa....while sli you can enable ultra and 4x msaa as with the single card,the fps tank to the lower 50's with either ultra 2x msaa or 4x msaa high enabled.

So i decided not to sell the other card.

LOL gtx670 sli for almost all games is overkill at 1080p but when i disabled sli to see how BF3 would run on a single gtx670 as i thought about selling one of them,the only way to sustain 65fps as a bare minimum is to run high 1080p with 2x msaa....while sli you can enable ultra and 4x msaa as with the single card,the fps tank to the lower 50's with either ultra 2x msaa or 4x msaa high enabled.

So i decided not to sell the other card.

Are you trying to say you can't run ultra with a single 670 because you easily can

Nothing, but I got a 3930K new in box for 200 shipped, so figured I might as well lol

I am sorta a perfectionist when it comes to minimum fps,and if my minimum fps dips below 60 fps,i would lower any setting to pick up the minimum fps...ultimate fluid gameplay.

I know the gtx670 as a single card can play ultra but the extreme in me wants 60fps as a minimum...its why i went sli in the first place and that does a fantastic job.

Some people are extreme and want to purchase a i7 3960x to game,and some people are extreme like me and can't stand seeing fraps post any minimums under 60fps.

This is my highest 3DMark11 score so far. I see I have higher Physics and Combined score VS you. But you have a higher Graphics Score. Also, my upper card will boost to 1324MHz boost clock (Not tried higher) and the lower one have problems breaking 1200MHz boost clock. Both cards can manage 6.8GHz mem.

I'm wondering if you have a higher GPU score due to you utilizing PCI-E 3.0 for your setup, and I utilize PCI-E 2.0. I think it gives you the edge here.

Also, the upper card is scoring 100% ASIC Quality, whilst the lower one get's 97.1. So it seems ASIC quality actually says something about the quality of the core.

Will try to set the Nvidia Power management mode to Prefer Maximum Performance and run again. Will also see how far the upper card actually goes. 1324MHz boost is already very good in my opinion.

It seems these high-end cards are not scaling well with more than 2 cards in SLI/Crossfire.
