GTX680 to play SIMS?! Really? Is it that demanding a game? Honest question, I really don't know.

Once you start loading up your house with crap it does start to get a tad demanding.

Flipping from normal/medium to Ultra makes a huge difference in visuals, everything gets textured - trees, benches, etc etc.

And since the game is fully 3D rendered (ie all sides of an object have to be rendered unlike most games we play (FPS) where you're only seeing one angle of majority of the level) the system does start to stress more.

OR, of course, the game is poorly optimized haha. Either way, at the end of the day, watching her set it to ultra and her FPS dip really made me wonder if the Sims 3 should be used in GPU benchmark reviews haha.

Yeah I'd like to see that.

Make sure you give the results url so I can see the tessellation settings.

I imagine you'll get around 8k gpu score.

More like 7 kish. My CPU is not OCed yet, Ill be able to reach that 8k in the near future.

Tesselation settings are at default, benchies are always to be run with CCC at defaults for the sake of comparision......

I am waiting for the mid-range models.

I am not that crazy anymore as years ago where i always bought "the best" which just came out, seeing that i hardly play anyway - and if i play it's mostly games like WoW etc. where i dont even need the latest card.

But i feel i need to update since the GTX 275 is really very old already and i just want a new card again. The other, major criteria is the fact that i only play in low resolutions like 1680 etc. anyway.

More than anything a SSD upgrade (better yet, SSD RAID) seems to be in order. That makes more difference than any video card upgrade as far as lag and general playability is concerned. I know because after installing 4 expansion packs, that's the only way to make their stupid unoptimized engine playable.

It's just a poorly optimized game imo. I have an SSD and while items, sims, and textures do load faster than before, it's still pretty bad... I'll post back when my 680 gets here (Thursday), but I'm expecting a bigger difference from a 560ti to 680 than a WD Scorpio black to Plextor m3 even if it is still a small difference.

I just bought an Apple Cinema Display, so once 7970 price drops happen (I am assuming this will happen once supply ramps up for the 680), I will probably purchase one for the native Mini-Display Port.

I bought one, since Nvidia finally had the better feature set for what I want out of a video card. Woo for displayport + 3 screens off one monitor.

Was using an old HD 5770 before, which I would have been satisfied with, except that I got myself a 2560x1440 27" monitor... which would run up to 115 hz if I had a GTX 680 (only 85hz with the Hd 5770).

so...on my last post sometime last week. I said to myself i wasn't gona get it. I was going to keep my 580 HC2 and add another HC2 sometime this year. What change my mind was that I still needed to pay $600.00+ for a HC2. So....late this afternoon, i received an email with GTX 580 SC back in stock. I order 2, 5min later OOS again. CRaZY!! These 2 card should last me well into next X## chipset, skipping X79.

Wow. That's a horribly optimized game.
