I thought the 770 was just a rebranded gtx 680 which has 2GB of Ram only, no? and how much they retail for?
Unless you like to max your games out, one 780ti is fine. Lots of settings give very little IQ for the performance hit, I find it unnecessary in most games I turn them down/off, ie: DoF, HDAO, HBAO, Bokeh etc.
4GB versions of the GTX 770 start around $370 @ newegg.
But, if you can get a GTX 780 for $400 I'd say go for it. Hard to turn it down at that price.
Even though a GTX 780Ti @ $550 is a great deal, it's not worth the additional $150 over the GTX 780.
The 780ti is about equal in performance to 770 SLI, faster when over clocked. I would much rather have a single GPU and the option to add another than just another, weaker GPU. But that's just me.

The 770 SLI ref. is 20-25% faster than the 780 ti ref in C3,TR, BioShock, and MOHW in these games at 2550x1440. The 780 ti ref doesn't win one BM over the 770 sli ref in the below review.

an OC'd 780 Ti will run stuff maxed. You might have to leave AA off on BF4 or something. Get a Ti, and throw another one with it down the road.
Don't listen to these clowns telling you to get 4 gig 770's.
what 780 are you guys talking about for $400 ?
