Thanks guys! I bought it (Gigabyte 780Ti WF3). My first time ever in 15 years getting an nVidia card and my first time ever going with Gigabyte. Now..to pick a MoBo!

A great current choice that will stand up for itself when full tilt customs arrive. Cooler does well, looks like the did away full plate covering mem/power, but add steel to the sides.

I used the ROG Hero for my evga 780ti superclocked with the blower cooler. I liked the spacing on the pcie slots and it had a 1x underneath the cards so you weren't messing up their intake airflow.

There are two that are out now and already reviewed: Gigabyte WF3 Ghz edition and the EVGA SC ACX 780ti. The others haven't hit etailers just yet.....like I said though, it doesn't get much better than the WF3 revision 2. It's a great cooler.

I'd like to see pricing on the Ghz version, especially since it looks like there will be no 6GB versions. I wouldnt mind replacing my 680s with one, then I can give them to family members who could use the upgrade. Thats how I justify my PC spending.

The ti ghz edition wasn't available for me yet, so I too chose the ti oc version. Looking at this review of the ghz edition, which also includes the oc edition because they reviewed that two weeks prior, I'm not bummed that I didn't want to wait any longer. The oc edition is already plenty fast and according to that review it's quite a bit more quiet and consumes noticeably less energy. Either way, these look to be beastly cards!

Since newegg is having a 10% if you use Masterpass, and now that the game coupons expired, I decided to get the regular GB 780 ti WF3 OC. With the game coupons I couldnt use the Masterpass coupon, and I already have those games and dont sell on ebay, so this works out better. I figured since I'm playing BF4 a lot now I might as well buy now, opposed to wait for the Ghz to be released. So the difference was closer to $80, assuming the Ghz is only $30 more. The only reason I didnt buy this earlier is CA Tax, and I was waiting for an out of state vendor to have it at this price.

I'll be interested to hear how you feel this compares to 680SLI.

I went with a single 780 over getting 670SLI for BF4, and it's very good (but I am very bad right now in the game...).

I tried 7870CF as an alternative, and despite similar fps, it was worse overall.

Is the 780ti slower than two 680's? Did you choose the 780ti to avoid SLI?

I'll do some tests, but it just has to be in the ballpark. I'm basically running on med-high settings right now to stay above 120fps. If I can do the same with some stuff turned up, I'll be happy. Otherwise, I guess I can always return it. I have a settings profile that ran at 120fps with a single 680, so it shouldnt be a problem.

The OC version will be close. I always intended to get a 780 ti, the second 680 was a temporary solution. I never planned on keeping it, but I admit the performance is very good. I haven't seen any dealbreakers as far as SLI is concerned, but I noticed in the in game graphs, SLI seems to be a bit more erratic at times than a single card.

And to be honest, a big part of this is determining what I get for Xmas. I get everyone good stuff and end up with Sees candy and an sweater. So I buy my own present.

here's whats most interesting to me:
http://tpucdn.com/reviews/Palit/GTX_780_Ti_Jet_Stream/images/perfdollar.gif
http://tpucdn.com/reviews/Palit/GTX_780_Ti_Jet_Stream/images/perfwatt.gif

this card, while having the worst perf/$ actually IS the best perf/W! that's an amazing stat for a flagship card.
on a side note, sad to see in that TPU review that my GTX680, which was a beast when it came out not 18 months ago, is not the bottom of the high-end (or top of the mid-range if you prefer). AMD and NV sure have milked 28mn to the bone to pull out this kind of performance.

That's some excellent VRM and VRAM cooling.

This is the primary reason for the efficiency.

GK104 was mid-range from the start :|
yes, but looking at GTX680 -> GTX780/TI, the 680 debuted at 500$ and the 780TI is now 700-750, this price range has seen a rise in peroformance of about 50% in the past year alone.

i got a good deal on my second-hand GTX680 for half the price of a new one so i went for it. it's more than twice as strong as my previous card - HD5850.

Nothing wrong with the 680, just as some point we have to accept the fact that we got swindled this generation by both sides with $500 mid range products.
