780Ti turned out good but not as fast as I thought it would be.
At $700 it needed to be 15-25% or so faster than R9 290X and it only just beats it in most games.:hmm:

I'd still rather have R9 290 at $399.

How would you know if BF4 goes over 2GB if you only have 2GB? It is literally impossible for BF4 to use more than 2GB of RAM for you.

You are artificially bottlenecking your performance because you have 2GB of RAM. Your system is having to swap memory out at a higher rate than those with more memory. This will lead to small stutters when it goes to load.

The below graph is at VHQ, Ultra with 4x AA is going to use more:

And the game is not slow/unplayable so anything else doesn't matter.

What it comes down to for me performance and even the new 780ti does not outperform my sli 670s. Memory is not enough an issue at 1440 yet.

Pretty meh to me. We need the next generation of cards to come out already. It feels like 28nm has been here for years.

Some newer games would be slow, sometime later.

So, for people.buying a reasonably expensive card right now, it does and it should matter...

Look into your crystal ball and tell me when 3GB of memory will not be enough at resolutions that actually matter. 4k is pretty irrelevant.

btw would it kill Anandtech to include 1080p scores? Or would these cards all be CPU limited?

And when you are CPU limited Nvidia comes on top almost every time. AMD (the sponsor) no likey.

This type of thread crapping doesn't add any value to the discussion. Knock it off, now.

Two things...

Where/when are these available?

Is there a 6GB version?

No 6GB version. I haven't heard anything about them coming later either. If they do it would probably be a while until they show up.

Sure would like to buy one... Nothing on newegg or amazon.ca yet. EVGA wants to charge me $60.00 in shipping, and tigerdirect wants over $800.00 for one...

Thanks to the efficient B-stepping, we have multiple OEMs building superclocked version of GTX 780 Ti.

Just look at Inno3D and the X3 model. 16% faster than reference GTX 780 Ti while running 20C lower than reference model. Pretty close to GTX 690 too. Thats amazing

The X3 model is quite literally sporting a version of the ARCTIC Accelero Xtreme III that the disingenuous people are gushing about in the 290(x) thread(s).

BTW, we really need Inno3D selling product in the US. They have the best AIB open air designs bar none.

I noticed this at the B3d forum:

BitTech was able to achieve ~ 20% extra performance on the reference GTX 780 Ti through overclocking: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2013/11/07/nvidia-gtx-780-ti-3gb-review/11 .

TPU was also able to achieve ~ 18% extra performance through overclocking, and they used the default voltage and fan speed settings: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_780_Ti/30.html .

At that performance level, it is really close to GTX 690.
I'll just quote myself from other thread:
On the matter of review samples:
One reviewer said in his youtube 290X cooler (yes, cooler - because that was the main point of review) video review, this:
Quote:
"I don't know if I got just a bad [290x)] sample [...], but one thing I will say is when nvidia send samples out to the press, they were so [profanity] blatently cherry-picked its unbelievable [...] so I'm little bit underwhelmed that AMD have not been [..] this stuff aswell"
(not going to post link, time stamp @34:40)

I wouldn't put much into these OC results. I'm hoping for owner experience to show the same OC potential

We all knew it was going to be fast. What is important is how quickly AMD responds with aftermarket coolers on their cards now. I would imagine they are coming VERY soon.

That 8-10% lead will shrink once Hawaii is kept cool. Then we may be graced with another Nvidia price drop across the board.

Buy a $700 card.
Use a $200 monitor.

A single card gets 60fps at 2560x1600 HQ in Metro, Bioshock, BF3, Crysis 3.
Can't be bothered to go through the rest.

Why show 1080p/1200p when a single card already exceeds 60fps at a higher resolution?
These are high end cards that perform more than fast enough at 1600p to break 60fps, which is why they don't show lower resolutions.

If the 780 is faster, then it gets more frames above 60 than the AMD card. But both still get above 60, so they don't bother benching it.

It's a $700 card, it gets $500 monitor resolutions, not $200 monitor resolutions.

The only thing they are missing out on is benching using a 120Hz monitor to show whether it would be effective at using the extra refresh rate, but I can't recall many articles on 120Hz monitors, but lots on high res setups.
AT focuses on high res more than high Hz, and that's reflected in their benchmarks.

If you are buying this card for 1080p, it better be for a 120Hz monitor.
