this card could also potentially be BIOS-hacked to increase Power Limit to 150% and since the thermals are so low the OC+boost can go even higher.

I don’t exactly know whether the PCB is different from the one featured on the GTX 780 HOF but i can sort out some features. The back of the PCB is equipped with the industry’s high-end Panasonic tantalum capacitors. In total, the core has its eight while the memory has four KEMET tantalum capacitors with a capacity of 330uF. On the back, six MDU3606 Mosfet from Magnachip can also be spotted. To deliver high-speed under overclocked specs, the memory is equipped with its own heat spreader. The PWM supply has its own set of heatsink.

Tantalum

I couldn't wait for the Classified... Jacob said next week for Newegg/Amazon.

I'm probably just going to water cool it, with a voltage soft mod... Fawk /\

Yeah I canceled when I tried my pump and it wasn't responding. Pump is $50 for some junk, $100+ for quality... That's $210 basically to go back to water and a whole lot of unhappiness due to women.

What about the SC?

I'm this | | close to going with a 780...

Getting 25 fps on avg probably with these settings in AC4:BF...

The SC is a nice card, but you should wait though. I will be rocking my GTS 250 until next week with you. I'm telling you man -- one more week is worth the wait for that Classified.

Need to wait. 1 week is nothing for a card you'll own for a while. The Classified cards are in a whole other tier than the normal cards because of the full voltage control.

You can get clocks out of them that just cannot be done on the normal cards with or without water.

They use tantalum capacitors to be able to handle the heat.

Was used on the 480 boards for the same reason.

Solid, effective, reliable but expensive stuff. Poluting like hell btw

Does anyone know when the Ghz Edition 780ti comes out that was reviewed a week ago on Hardwarecanucks? Kind of surprised that no other site even has a review of it yet.

I have given up hope of being able to snag a aftermarket 290 once they release because miners will gobble them up. I have now fully decided on the 780ti GHz and will pull the trigger the second it is available for $730-$750.

Why would you go with a "ghz" version when there are cards clocked that high for less?

I don't want to pay $700 for a card that has no guarantees of hitting the sizeable clocks of the GHz model. The way I see it is I would rather pay another $30ish and know I will hit at least the advertised clock speeds.

I don't understand......what current 1GHZ cards don't hit the advertised clock speeds? The "Ghz edition" label doesn't have any special meaning over the current OC cards, unless I am wrong...which happens.

What I meant is that the specific model I mentioned is clocked at 1085/1150. This is higher than any other model comes out of the box. I am not saying that other models won't be able to achieve this by me OCing them, but for a few extra dollars I might as well go with the one that is guaranteed to hit these numbers. Which other cards do you see that hit these numbers? I don't think any of them do out of the box.

Ah ok...they are clocked higher...gotcha. Highest I see so far is 1020.

Was planning on ordering either an ASUS or EVGA 780ti tomorrow. Its been a while since Ive looked at NVidia. Past few upgrade cycles for me have been AMD cards. Last NVidia was SLI'd GTX460's which I loved.

I am replacing a vanilla reference 7970. Playing on 1920 x 1200 monitor but will be going 1440p or higher soon. Depending on how that Dell 28" 4k monitor pans out. Playing BF4.

Is the EVGA ACX cooler worth the extra few bucks over the blower? Now I am seeing above to wait until next week for the classified? Not sure what to do here.

Thank you.

If you like to push the boundaries when overclocking, then I would suggest waiting for the 780ti Classy. If you don't care to overclock too much and will stick with a single card, go ACX. The temperature and noise levels are lower with the ACX vs. Reference. If you plan on going SLI, then go with the "blower" reference design. Come to think of it, if the new Dell 28" 4K entices you, you are going to want to be looking at two of these cards imo. So two reference cards would be my pick unless you have a custom loop.

The ACX is a bit quieter and allows for slightly more OC headroom. I say slightly because it is a reference PCB card. If you want maximum overclock headroom, you'll want a custom PCB such as the GHz edition from Gigabyte or the Asus DC II (which is forthcoming).. The classified is also a great option, but will be expensive.

The reference is no slouch in terms of acoustics, it is extremely quiet. Now the aftermarket cards will be slightly quieter, but the real reason for aftermarket is overclocking - those cards will have more thermal OC headroom. The key thing with the plain ACX is that it is reference PCB, as mentioned; reference will not overclock as high as a custom PCB. You really can't go wrong with any of these choices. It all depends on how much you value overclocking and how much you're willing to spend.

Go with the Gigabyte OC over the ACX. Higher clocks, better cooler, cheaper.

MSI 780 Ti TF Gaming review is out:

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/msi_geforce_gtx_780_ti_gaming_review,1.html

About what you would generally expect for this card as load noise levels and temps are really good. Overclocking is average, but performance for the card in general is really good anyway and hardcore overclockers will go with the Lightening or Classified versions.

That's a really nice card. I really like the look of the new MSI Gaming cards. I would say without adding any voltage they got a pretty nice overclock out of it.

Overclocked
Core Clock: 1095 MHz
Boost Clock: 1228 MHz
Memory Clock:7798 MHz

Thanks for the replies all. Price is not really a concern but I dont think a crazy O/C edition would be worth it for me. I do overclock a bit but don't push my GPU's to the limit. So if this classified card is going to be a big step up in price, I dont think its worth it for my usage.

Face2Face-thats a good point about needing 2 of these to drive the 4k monitor so the blower is definitely still on my list.

blackened23-Yes, from what Ive heard/read, the blowers on these cards are very quiet. Cant be any worse than my 7970 blower, LOL.

Now I have the Gigabyte OC card to look at that OCGuy recommended. More decisions.
