I've had multiple BSODs in the last couple years with Forcewares, plus TDR issues with multiple driver versions...so, what's the bar for bad, on AMD's side?

I haven't had a single BSOD on my AMD card. I've had issues but unless you're using an HTPC, the issues weren't relevant to majority of users (hence probably why the issue existed in the first place).

Nvidia, same deal, great experience.

I'm sure there are driver issues for both vendors here and there, but it seems people blow the issue WAY out of proportion.

Only reason I'll be going green next card is for the OpenGL performance for Dolphin.

I agree. Both are constantly changing, adding features, and tuning for performance across many different hardware and software configurations. They both have issues, major and minor, that some users may experience, over time. Most will have no issues, or only minor ones, but there have been plenty of problems on the Geforce side of the world (GPUs getting damaged due to not throttling correctly, anyone?), they just seem to get ignored a lot more than AMD's problems.

I think the 960 would have to be 3GB at $230 MSRP to be compelling over an R9 290.

I dunno, I don't really see a whole lot of problems with Nvidia drivers compared to AMDs back when I had my 6870. Though it's probably just bad luck on my end.

Don't expect a 960. Next Nvidia graphic cards are scheduled for April and then you are going to see GTX 990, GTX 980 would become the new 770 and the 970 would become the new 760.

There will not be a 960 in the traditional sense.

That's crazy. No way Nvidia is going to cede the $180-$280 market to AMD forever.

Imagine the suggestion is the rather saner one that they'll instead push everything down a bit pricewise once big Maxwell arrives.

Doesn't seem super likely given how well they're selling at the current prices of course We'll find out.

Wasn't the 900 series the "big Maxwell" card? Or I'm probably stupid. The latter is likely.

No, the 750Ti was little Maxwell (GM106), both the 970 and 980 are medium (GM204) Maxwell, with the big (GM210) Maxwell chip not slated until next year sometime.

Eh, they could just shrink the memory down to 3GB and lower the price a bit. I dunno if there's a game out there right now that needs 3GB (except for the Witcher 3 but that'll be released later)
Why would they want to release it cheaper?
