They need to get MFAA working on SLI. I want to use it.

That is weird that it isn't supported on there.

Guessing MFAA works at random on certain games,i could get it working in BC2 without fail but WOT it just doesn't work. Both are ugly games without high amounts of AA enabled.

Guess i need Nvidia Inspector for sure.

I notice my card at stock sometimes has varying clockspeeds, ranging from 1314-1354...is this happening mostly cause Power Limit is at stock? Not sure if raising it to 120% would increase clocks and keep them higher?Average to medium high loads i stick at 1354 but constant big loads like 97-98% i downclock.

My 770 would clock at 2 clocks,1058 or 1150 depending if the game was demanding or not, this 970 is a bit different.

It might be, set it to 120 and see. The way they throttle is odd too cause my cards will go down then go back up again sometimes.

Not much of a difference it seemed, according to MSI AB i went to 102% but my highest clock still was 1354.That was without touching it,applying 120% didn't do much of anything honestly.Maybe my stock voltage is a bit lower or something and that is causing it to dip, more or less its hitting like 1316 /1329 and temps are good when this happens too.

Guess its more valuable for overclocking.I was going to overclock this thing but haven't found a need yet,i was more or less curious on why the clocks jumped all around.

You could...throw it at someone...and kill them?!?!?!!?!?!??!?!??!?!?!?!?

Yeah, better watch out, Reference Designed GTX 980's could get banned from the US!

I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of someone throwing that card at me, but then again, I wouldn't ever throw a $500 video card like a baseball anyways.

It overclocks based on the power limit and the temperature limit. Throttling occurs at 80 degrees for most 970 I think. So that's why you might see higher clocks at sections that are less demanding for the card so it doesn't put out as much heat.

Mine are overclocked to 1500 but I often see them go to 1515 or something like that in games.

No issues with heat here, highest load temps are with higher then normal ambient temps and a couple hours of BF4 64p where i don't go pass 66cel.Maybe Unigine Valley doesn't load the processor but that benchmark oddly doesn't load me as high for whatever reason and my stock cpu cooler could be circulating hot air?

I did play around with the voltages a bit, adding 37mv to the 120% i was peaking to 116% usage in BF4 and i wouldn't downlock for anything. Not sure how but i was hitting 102% on stock out of the box, unless my card hits 105% or something?

Q for others with a Gigabyte 970/980, have you had OC_Guru II stop working recently? Up until a week or two ago it always started when my Win 7 loaded, but now neither 1.74 or 1.78 work. They simply die on start up, with an error in GVDisplay.dll.

I'm wondering if it might have been one of the Windows updates on the 29th Jan that causes it, but I wanted to know if others had seen the problem before trying to uninstall them one at a time.

Which way is the best way to go about testing stability with the 970 and overclocks? After rolling stock for a bit i am feeling a bit comfortable with overclocking this thing now, collected a bit more data on reviews mostly taking this thing to 1279+ base.

Thinking 165+ base offset and 495+ memory offset should be good right? 1279 is base clock and memory is basically 7.8Ghz.

I run a loop of heaven benchmark for 12 hours and then see if any of my games have problems. If that goes smooth then I consider it good to go.

Amazon giving out 20-30% refund on 970 due to 3.5gb issue. Contact customer service. I bought mine from tigerdirect, and will try it out later. This would make a great card even better.

What do you mean giving a 20-20% refund? If you bought it from another retailer how are you supposed to take advantage of Amazon's offer?

Amazon is in no way handing out 20-30% because of the 970 issue. They will do that for anything but once you start taking advantage of price matches and their returns system they will outright ban your account and everyone you have shipped to.

Amazon's customer service is excellent but don't over use it. If you don't believe me then Google CIS@amazon.

I just got off the phone and newegg offered me 10% back in store credit, I asked for further options and was then offered full return for in store credit, I pressed further and they are giving me a full RMA to my card.

Now what cards to replace them with!

Maxwell should be the first to fully support it. Other DX11 cards should have partial support or support for at least the important features.

Returned my 2nd 970 yesterday to BestBuy no hassles at all. Was within the 30 day return period(elite). Figured I'd loose my $20 reward certificate but it's being credited back also.

Next dual card adventure will be AMD without question.
