I've never been under the impression that the marketing was trying to fool us into believing the cards they are selling are capable of these things. I just don't see any of these feats being at all relevant to the purpose for which the product was intended in the first place (gaming/compute). It's like if Chevrolet announced tomorrow that a production based Corvette just set the "world speed record while going in reverse" for a production based vehicle. Who cares? It's not relevant to how a user would ever use the product.
OTOH, I can agree much of the lure of it for the people doing it is simply "because we can". I just don't see how any of it is exciting for an outsider.
How is not relevant to an Overclocker.?
We might be a minority but what card has the best power delivery, which cards are better binned, etc is important to some of us. It is not relevant to how you would use a product but it is relevant to me or somebody else (however few of us their might be).
Its good to know that the Corvette has a Strong enough base that I can build upon, add turbos & stuff.
Are gonna put the turbo on a Corolla. ?
The world doesn't just revolve around you.
